Hey guys, so I am an owner of an EVGA 1070 FTW card purchased earlier this year. So, as many of you are as well, I dealing with the recent PWM thermal issue. Before this issue arose recently, I was already thinking about getting a hybrid cooling kit for my card. I was just wondering that if I replaced the ACX 3.0 cooler with the hybrid cooler, would that resolve the overheating issues without needing to apply the thermal pads? Additionally, this should allow the card to operate at a lower volume than the increased fan curve of the ACX 3.0's new vbios, correct?

Just wanted to make sure that purchasing the hybrid kit would alleviate the concerns regarding the PWM thermal issue (as well as better thermals in general).

Also, I've been reading horror stories on reddit and on this this forum regarding installation of the new vbios. I want to wait a bit before applying the new vbios, for any bugs to be worked out. In the meantime I set my fan curve in EVGA Precision to aggressive, should that be good enough to avoid overheating the PWM?

Yes to all three of your questions.

Yep, put the kit on my 1080ftw, vram is inderectly cooled by the cold plate and vrm has its own fan and heatsync. Thermals are awesome. Can't break 45c at 2.134ghz. I put 2 noctua 3000rpm fans in push pull though...
