I know we're waiting on a proper Nvflash, but still it's not a guarantee from what I can see, which would make the triple bios and extra goodies on the classy useless like you said. But I suppose it is only a matter of time since we're simply waiting on one thing now. I keep telling myself to be content with the reference boards, but it isn't worth ignoring the coil whine in my particular case which leads me to want to get a classy. They will probably be in stock before the cards I ordered will.

The way things are going, It would Not surprise me if EVGA/Nvidia announced that Another variant of the GTX 980 (or even a Titan?) will be in production soon. It's getting to the point where I don't know whether to "Poop or go Blind" from the stress of just waiting for the Classified Version to appear.

lol... At the very least we have an end of October date, but a specific day and price reveal for your 'patient' customers would be great now EVGA. :)

I think it would be fitting (For Myself) if the Specific day and price reveal will be on Halloween October 31. LOL!

I had a 980 ( on order ) until they cancelled the payment and put it on back order. I feel like I need to buy a ticket first saying I have the rights to buy a Classified when it hits! :)

I'm pretty sure The EVBot Firmware has to be updated to work with the New GTX 980 Classifieds. My EVBot Firmware is version 031 which was used for my EVGA GTX 780Ti Classified Kingpin Edition Cards. I have already PM'd TiN at Kingpincooling.com to try and get the right version to make the EVBot work with the upcoming EVGA GTX 980 Classified Cards and am waiting for his reply.

Thanks. Been using it on these 3 kingpins (and needed new firmware for that at the time) with various bioses. Hopefully one of the 3 bioses on the 980C has a decent TDP and/or nvflash is updated for maxwell.

In response to the reference card coil whine...I have a zotac ref I bought for $549 on amazon, no whine, temps stay at 70 or less while benching with stock fan profile. Boosts to 1465 and stays there while running 3dmark11. I am very pleased with the ref card. I have not even messed with seeing where this card could go. I just boosted base clock by 200 to 1327 in evga precision, and put power at 125%, nothing else. It may do more, I have to mess with it. I have these settings 24/7 so far in all that I do without a single problem yet.

I Knew from reading the articles over on Overclockers.net there was the ability to Flash the Bios's between different variations of the GTX 970/980 Cards, But I have not seen a Modded Bios shown as of yet that will allow voltage changes, Unless I missed something about that ability being available now.

You can mod your own if you'd like, but yeah you can change the voltage offset, but the applied voltage doesn't change. You can however change the TDP, which is why we need the puppies to hurry up now with their unlocked voltage control.

Might be necessary to have these cards now as nVidia has started signing the BIOS files. May not be able to ever upload custom BIOS files. Time will tell.

Skyn3t is already working on a custom 980 bios that allows you to play with TDP limits and voltages and all that jazz and I believe nvflash is now working for maxwell: EDIT: I cant post links yet: google the overclock.net gtx 980 owners thread. While the 980 is disappointing if you have a 780 or higher if you are coming from anything lower and you get this 980 classy, get the skyn3t bios, its really not hard to do at all, especially with the dual bios switch. I have my 780 classy at 1200 stable so I can only imagine what the 980 classy can do. Plus I know I don't have to tell you guys, being members of the EVGA forum, but overclocking the 980 is a must, a overclocked 780ti beats a stock 980. An overclocked 980 substantially beats the 780ti: EDIT: I cant post links yet. HardOCP did a 980 overclocking benchmark runoff thingy. Google it. :-P Side note: keep in mind they did this with a reference 980.

Hi. I have a question.
Seeing that the GTX980 classified is finally on the store page, what happened to the 1405 MHz Boost clock that was in several news sites? Was that just a rumour or there is another variation of the Classified card coming at some point? The one on the store page has 1393MHz Boost Clock instead. Cheers

Andrew_WOT It's here http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=04G-P4-2988-KR The question is, is the difference really worth $130 over ACX 2.0 SC. 1291/1393Mhz vs 1266/1367Mhz (mine boost to 1418Mhz on stock settings) And still no 980 FTW,
I thought the Boost Clock was supposed to be 1405MHz? The 1291/1393MHz values are Exactly the same as a Zotac ZT-90203-10P!

Like from here? http://wccftech.com/evga-geforce-gtx-980-classified-gtx-980-hydro-copper-fastest-maxwell-cards-evga/Specifications:Core- 2048 CUDA Cores
- Base Clock: 1291 MHz
- Boost Clock: 1405 MHz
- Bus: PCI-E 3.0
- 2-way, 3-way, 4-way SLI Ready
Memory- Memory Detail: 4096 MB GDDR5
- Memory Bit Width: 256 Bit
- Memory Clock: 7010 MHz
- Memory Speed: 0.28 ns
- Memory Bandwidth: 224.3 GB/s
I am sure the actual will be much higher than that, ACX 2.0 SC with advertised boost of 1367 goes to 1418 under load. But I am curios myself.
