Just installed an EK predator kit and there is a very audible gurgling/ticking noise. It sounds much like a little fish tank. Will this go away in time? Has anyone else with this kit had this issue?

I've been thinking about upgrading to a predator 360 from my enermax 240 aio...please update if the noise stops. Thanks for posting about this.

You have an air bubble. Open the fill port and fill it with some distilled water. It shouldn't take much. The air bubble it's probably trapped near the pump, or the gurgling is coming from the fitting. Make sure the fill post is higher than any other part of the loop when filling it.

This happens with every AIO. Be glad you have one that can be filled to remove air.

Just purchased some the EK coolant (that's what comes in it as far as I know). Could that air bubble cause the temperatures to be higher than they should? I'm seeing 77-82c on an i7 970 @4.2ghz 1.32v. This is not an improvement over my Megahalem this kit is replacing.

I'll do this when I get home on Thursday and report back. Thanks.

Your temps should probably be lower than that. Are you making sure you have good thermal paste coverage and a good mount from the block?

Those temps are way high. Even a poor 240 AIO should have lower temps. Maybe the pump is not circulating the fluid or has failed?

The kit is not compatible with 1366 so I used the mounting hardware from their Supremacy Evo block. Everything is installed securely and used prolimatech pk3 the same as I always have. I know the pump is working since I can hear it gurgling coolant. I can also control it's speed via PWM. I'm hoping temps get better when bleed the loop and add coolant. If that doesn't fix it I'm not sure what else I can do.

Yeah those temps are way too high. I was adequately cooling both a Xeon 5680 (socket 1366) and a 1080 with a single Swiftech 2x120. I'm betting it's your mount. If you top it off and are still seeing those temps, I suspect your mount. Have you pulled the block and looked at the pattern of TIM on the cpu block to see if it looks like it had good coverage and contact?

I've been using Prolimatech Pk3 as well (used it on my 1080 block and my old Xeon cpu and other things) but ran out when it came time to mount the EK Supremacy EVO on my i7 6900, so I used the Ectotherm that EK included with the kit. The ektotherm was significantly "runnier" than the Prolimatech, which means it's probably much easier to get good coverage with it.

I'm returning home later today so I'll pull the block off and get a picture of the TIM and post it here.

I ended up just swapping it out at microcenter. The new one has no gurgling and highest temperature I've seen is 72c. Great cooler and very quiet.
