yes, i dont know how i got the verision i was using. (1.2.3) when i saw i had the wrong one, i uninstalled it and d/l'd the stable verison.

Two icons on desktop One says mumble one says mumble backwardcompatible,cannot connect with either one. one gives me invalid username the other keeps saying host dissconteced

I take it you got this figured out because I was talking to you last night.  What was the problem in case other people run into it? 

I've been using or mumble for a while so i thought i'd try making the certificate thing which allows you to create temp channels. So i made a certificate but i still couldnt get the adding a temp channel to work so my friend tells me i have to register to the server. I registered to the server and still i couldnt make a temp channel. So i thought maybe i have to reconnect. Reconnected and now it's telling me wrong password and is requiring me to input a password. Never had to do that before so i have no clue what the password is. Tried leaving it blank but didnt work. I can make a new user and log into the server under a different name but cant use the one ive been using for the past couple of months. No clue what to do now.

Well I formatted my HD so I had to reinstall mumble, I imported my old certificate, and tried to log in but it asked me for a password. I have never set up a password.
 Anyways  I tried a couple pw's then the damn thing locked me out, and I cannot get back in.

Soblehhh was having the same problems last night.  I think it was after he did the certificate wizard.  I never did the certificate wizard and didn't have a problem.  Use your name but add a 1 or something behind it and see if that allows you to get in.

Do you think TS2 is really relevent now that TS3 is out?

Good idea though, if you want to write up a TS3 tut we can add it to this and I can do the same for Vent.

Apparently our Ventrilo sponsor, LowPings.net has shut down our server. We were suppose to be displaying there logo on the gaming page but it would seem that when we switched over to the new page there logo never got put back on there. 

We are looking into some other options including finding another sponsor. In the meantime, I would recommend Mumble or TeamSpeak.

TeamSpeak 3 looks sexy!! Belatu agrees but would only say it off the record.

But can you set your codec client side? :p


Both of them seem to be about even in most respects. However mumble did come out with allot of these features before TS3 and it would seem all of the other VOIP clients are trying to play catch up with Mumble. 

TS3 is probably easier to setup than Mumble, but if you want, or need, to tweak your audio quality to get the best quality for your bandwidth, i think Mumble is the way to go. In all of the tests I've seen online Mumble beats out TS and Ventrilo when it comes to latency as well.

In the end, it really comes down to what your needs are and what you're used to.
