Yesterday my triple monitor rig blew out the 680GTX. Lost the Display port output. I swapped it over to the HDMI and it worked but I don't trust it after that.

I have a mining rig with 6x 750Ti and wanted to put two of them in place of the 680. Now I know they don't do SLI and I'm not looking for SLI.
Just drive my three monitors. One is used for occasional gaming but never all three together.
Funny how my mining rig could see all six but I could only see one on this machine.(ASUS Maximus GENE w/4770K, 32g)
Is there something in the driver that limits the number of cards?
Before installing the drivers, windows could see the second card, After driver install, nada.

Any ideas?

Technically, the 750 Ti should be able to run 3 monitors on its own.  DVI, HDMI, DP.  That might be the easiest solution.

Where was the second card missing?  Device Manager, Nvidia Control Panel, etc.?  Even if the cards cannot SLI, one card should not simply disappear after installing the drivers.  Not sure what's going on with that.

That's how I'm running now. All three on one card.
The reason for using two cards would be to unload some of the graphics off one card. I often play older games on the machine, games limited to one monitor. As it is now I've scaled the graphics back to almost stick figure levels and the card runs at 100% load and 45 to 49C (I have the fans locked at 100%).
My thoughts were to put the left monitor on a single card, scale the graphics back up to decent levels while the other two monitors are used in the normal way. Surfing, email, youtube etc...

Before installing the drivers I noticed that windows picked up on both cards. I did not look in device manager but the Hardware Wizard displayed two cards, two driver installs simultaneously. I cancelled this and downloaded the latest driver. After install I saw one card in Device manager and one card in Nvidia Control Panel.

I too was thinking that even if they can't do SLI, I should be able to run them together.

Since technically they should run together, I'll install the second card again and mess with it to see if I can get it to recognize. Like I said, there was no problem with my mining machine picking up all 6 of them and driving them to 99-100% doing mining. They functioned stellar in that role, even running 24/7 for weeks on end.

Sounds like a plan.  Let us know if there's a problem again with the second card.

Happy to report that as soon as I powered up with the second card in, windows found it, installed drivers and seems to be working as intended.
However the second card did not show up in Precision X, even after a reboot. Uninstalled, reinstalled and it picked up both cards.
Nvidia control panel shows both cards and I configured them as I wanted.

All is good here!
Thanks for the support.

UPDATE:
Temps running around 45 to 49c, fan cooking at 100% and game playing at 60fps.
All seemed great until a few hours later, crash.
A strange crash. All screens took on a single color, the color of old windows xp (that sort of brown/gray), there were some icons scattered around, I could hear my game playing in the back ground but totally unresponsive to inputs or ctrl-alt-del.
Finally had to reset. Thought it might be my overclock so I dropped back to default speeds.
After about an hour it did it again. I thought that maybe triple monitors, the card and the game were just a bad combo so I dug out my last GTX680.
I replaced the waterblock with the stock cooler and installed it. All seemed great.
Unit ran for about 5 hours like that then.. bang! Same crash. This time I saw the shadow of an error window.  The title bar was "PrecisionX has encountered an error", message was something about write to an address failed.
That could be the common denominator in my crashes. Uninstalled it and have been running about 6 hours now.
