Zuhl3156 I just got a DOOM update this morning. It finished downloading 0 of 0 bytes in seconds??? It's supposed to 'center' your gun whatever that means. I never noticed it before. Still afraid to play because of that 'Dev Mode' warning and all of the crashed to Desktop. I did find this and might try it later: https://community.bethesda.net/message/171466?et=watches.email.thread#171466 What have I got to lose at this point?
The update was a few hundred megs download unless I'm confusing it with something else on Steam. The retro 'center' weapon is a game option but is not the default. I tried it centered, but it wasn't to my liking.

I'll have to check it out when I get a chance. I never much played the older 'retro' games except for Doom 3 that I snagged in a Steam Sale for only $4.99 so I don't know what they're talking about. I might install Doom 3 and give it another try now that I at least have an idea of what the game is about.

Doom 3 and DOOM (2016) play quite differently. The former is like skulking around through dark rooms and corridors, looking for doorways and switches while creatures lay in wait. The latest iteration is a fast-paced shooter that rewards aggressiveness over hiding or running. There are probably YouTube videos of the popular Doom versions showing the past 20 years of development. Good luck and good gunning if you manage to get DOOM (2016) installed.

It was fine and stable for weeks before I got a BCC 1d Corrupted Page File crash. Now all it does is crash to Desktop leaving me staring at a report. I have deleted the local files and downloaded and installed it again but I am afraid to waste my time trying it again until these well known and much complained about issues are resolved. I was starting to get the hang of things and enjoyed playing it at least for a short time. I keep pecking away at the letters while I am typing my responses but I am getting annoyed at how many misspelled words I am getting when I review my post after I am done. Since my K70 is way out of warranty I might as well get some enjoyment from breaking it in half by whacking it across my countertop. Argggg.

I am getting a 2.5 GB update now that is taking up 9 GB on my drive for some reason. One of the fixes listed for the SP version is the crashing to Desktop so IDK. Maybe it is finally time to try it again? Single Player: Fixed Steam Friends Ultra-Nightmare Helmets not populating the map Fixed freeze when opening weapon wheel at more than 142 FPS (PC) Fixed quit to desktop when clicking campaign after initiating Dev Mode (PC) Fixed IDKFA Trophy/Achievement not properly unlocking (all versions) Fixed PS4 crash when reloading checkpoint in Foundry Fixed some occurrences of the Every Nook and Cranny Trophy not unlocking after collecting all Doomguys (PS4) Fixed an issue where the game required Internet access (Xbox One)

Had you been using Dev Mode during gameplay? If so, maybe the update will fix your crash. Have you had any issues with other Steam-installed games on your machine? I only have three Steam games installed at this time (DOOM, DiRT Rally, and F1 2012) and had no issues with installation or gameplay with any of them. I have only occasional game crashes or system lockups but this is not a fresh install of Win 10 - it was upgraded from Win 7 and Win 8.1 so it probably carried over a lot of mess.

I never used Dev Mode in DOOM but started getting the warning about it after the BCC d1 BSOD. Other players also started getting their warnings after a system wide total BSOD crash while playing the game. The Save in Slot #2 became corrupted and unable to be corrected so I had to delete that game and start again. My 2.5 GB update that consumed 9 GB of drive space settled back down to around 3 GB after it was finished installing. That was weird and something I have never seen before having an update balloon in size like that. No issues with any other Steam games right now. I have only been playing Fallout 4 on a regular basis. Both Borderlands 2 and Pre Sequel need me to knock my OC back to stock clocks or they will give me a TDR.

Well, the patch fixed everything up for me stability wise. I played a few hours without issue. My game in Slot #2 got deleted so I have to start from the get go again. It is still annoying not being able to create a save. I really wish they would work on that. It would make life so much easier. I see the lever to open the Classic Doom room but I keep falling and dying when I try to get up there to reach it. It is so close I can taste it. I need to rethink my strategy and approach it from a different direction if I can find one. I have to remember where I saw that video showing how to get to it. I think it was Camelworks on YouTube. He continually issued warnings about how easy it was to fall when making the jump and he wasn't kidding.

I just played for a while and finally made the jump to get to the secret Doom room lever. Yay! I found a convenient Checkpoint too so I could take a break without losing any progress. I wonder if they fixed the crashing when having the OSD in RTSS running? I do like to see my FPS and temperatures while playing. My boards have never exceeded 45°C so I don't know why I need to keep an eye on them. I just like to know what is going on with my PC.

Doesn't Doom have a built in overlay for that. I could choose the level of detail from low to high.

I never bothered looking into it but you're probably right. I just like having Afterburner and RTSS running so I can capture some streaming video now and then. I just do it for fun. Nobody even subscribes to my YouTube channel and I wouldn't even have one if I didn't want to save my favorite videos and subscribe to other channels.

Hmm, I don't stream anything myself. I generally watch tech videos and molding videos. Loving the MXR Skyrim mod videos. I haven't had much luck with OpenGL based games for the statistics server.

It does, but the only thing I find useful was the frame rate. For non-OpenGL games, I was using Precision X for OSD to show gpu temps, core and memory speed, fan duty cycle, etc but it doesn't work with DOOM. Steam also offers a tiny overlay for frame rate that isn't as intrusive as the native DOOM OSD.

It is stable and no longer crashing to Desktop but I have been getting plenty of stuttering lately and have no reason for it. Max Memory usage is 3383 Mb, temps never go over 42°C, Core Clock and Voltage is stable with no fluctuations. I can't monitor my FPS because RTSS used to cause a crash when I had my OSD enabled. Without RTSS enabled I get no FPS monitoring recorded in the graph when I exit the game. I was sure I used to be able to see what was happening in my OSD.

Did you want to enable DOOM's native monitoring and FPS from within its settings? Steam can also provide FPS during DOOM gameplay and it pretty much matches the number provided by DOOM's monitoring.

Monitoring just my FPS wouldn't help much. I would like to monitor all of my video boards activity when this stuttering is happening. VRAM usage seems a little high being close to 3.4 GB even though my boards have 4 GB. I might do away with that 'Motion Blur' as I find it to be useless and a resource hog. I think it re-enabled itself when I verified the game cache files last time I had crashes to Desktop. That didn't work anyway but the patch fixed everything up except for the occassional stuttering.
