I personally like the idea of giving back to their fans by showing something exclusive, something usually doesn't stay exclusive these days.  It's not like we won't see anything else from the game before it comes out.  There is still the beta coming out for all those that pre-ordered Wolfenstein.  I'm sure Youtube will be flooded with beta videos.  I've seen the reaction videos to the trailer, and it sounds like it has potential to be a really good game.  I can't wait to see more from the new DooM.

Apparently the explanation out of Bethesda is that most publishers and devs wouldn't have shown ANYTHING at this point in the development cycle, but since it's QuakeCon they decided to give the attendees a gift.
I really can't see why people are miffed at how the Twitch got cut...it was stated well beforehand that the viewing would be for those in attendance only.
As I said in my video's comments, with there being no Carmack keynote this year, they had to get something spectacular.


well if bethesda want people to buy the next doom game, it's not exactly a good idea to endorse a "privileged" approach into teaser videos. They should of let the stream run through with a "notice: alpha build / development still in progress" imho instead of shutting potential customers out from seeing it. Im more than enthusiastic about a new doom game but im not going to buy their game on launch just by reading about the teaser via twitter posts. 


I can guarantee you won't have to only rely on Twitter posts before deciding whether to buy the game...a lot of us will upload our impressions of the Beta whenever that comes out.
From the sound of things, maybe a holiday 2014 Beta so they can make the spring '15 window like Wolf New Order did.

Yeah, I don't get the hole "limited-release trailer" approach, either.  However, it sounds like it might be a good reboot.  I thought Doom 3 was fun, but it didn't quite feel like a Doom game to me.  It was almost like a darker version of Half-Life in some ways.  That being said, I feel like Serious Sam has kind of taken over the mantel of "bajillions of enemies to gib at once" and I hope that the new Doom can distinguish itself.
