Does anyone know if EVGA GTX680 4G FTW will support 1440P 165hz? I am trying to purchase an ACER XB271HU or ASUS PG279Q during XMAS, but i want to make sure that my Video Card can support that. I know it will support 1440P 144HZ because I am currently using a PG278Q( just bought 5 days, planning to change to the XB271HU or PG279Q) Would appreciate any help.:)

If you can run 144 Hz then 165 Hz should give you the same results. The higher refresh rate just prevents screen tearing if you exceed 144 Frames/sec or now 165 FPS with the newer monitor.

Yes, it will support it. Will the 680 push to 165 fps @ 1440p in games? No.

i just got the xb271hu ,somehow it only allow me to select 2560 1440 120hz, i used the DP cable that came with the monitor, and i switched back to my own DP cable, still can only select 120hz. But when I was using PG278Q , i could actually see and select the 2560 1440 144hz. Anyone knows a solution?

Sounds like you have OD (Asus) or its equivalent On, (limit is 120 Hz) check to make sure it and ULMB are switched off on the display. Check the owners manual or documentation that came with the display for resolution limitations. These should be set to off by default, but could be enabled when certain options are chosen during setup. edit: I am also able to "select" 165 on the max res setting on the display, however only 120 in the NVCP

I don't quite understand what you are saying, I had no problem with the Asus PG278Q( I could get to 144hz 1440P), the problem i met is I am using the Acer XB271HU right now. I checked OSD on Acer, the ULMB is off, somehow I cant even choose it on OSD, The OD can be off, normal or extreme, which should I choose? and the DTS to OFF

hard to say without looking at the manual, tried to find it a few minutes ago but could not. Have you tried or is there a reset in the setup menu to try? ULMB should be greyed out if using a DP I belive, turbo switch? OC on? ULMB is available @ 85, 100, 120 Hz, according to the 279 manual? I do know, when I set up the 279 I had a similar issue, I hit the "turbo" button(but it seems to do nothing now, when I press it), on the panel and it was able to go from120 to 144 and 165 in the OC menu .

well, just so happens, my Win7 daily rig has a 680 (2g) in it at the moment, and i have a 2560x1440 165 hz display. So I will give it a try at 144 later tonight in a few games and let you know what happens, edit: any particular game? I may have it. Did you see my last P.M?

And the answer is ........ unfortunately no. 144Hz requires a GTX 745 or higher gpu. (According to my manual anyway) But to confirm , I tried and could only get 120Hz also with the 680. http://dlcdnet.asus.com/p...279/PG279Q_English.pdf

thank you so much for ur effort. Sigh, i guess i will have to return this too in the coming a couple days. I ordered an BenQ 2430T(a very good price, CAD$351), but it took too long to ship ( I have already waited for 12 days, and its still processing ,lol) I purchased the XB271HU as a gambling to myself. If I really love it and my Graphic card can push it to the maximum, i will keep it. if not i will just return it when i get the BenQ XL2430T. I feel kinda disappointed though, i guess that's how life it is. Again, I really appreciate your help.

No problem at all, I had planned to try it anyway. I was really surprised how well the 2G 680 still performs at 120hz on the 279. Good luck! " />

PG278Q allows 144Hz with 680 but XB271HU doesn't. Strange.

yep, strange that the PG279Q doesn't either, IPS/680 = 120hz?

I submitted a ticket and EVGA confirmed that I am able to get 144hz on XB271HU and will push out 1440 at 144hz. Question12/20/2015 7:11:06 AM the oc is enabed. and i set the max refresh rateto 165hz in the OSD.the problem is theres not even an option for me to select 144hz. I just want to make sure, did you test the gtx 680 4gb ftw on the xb271hu amd you could get 144hz?i could not use the same cable, because i returned the pg278q so i have to return that cable that comes with the monitor too.so you are assuming the cable caused the problem?before i go to buy another cable, can you confirm me that you could get 144hz 2560 1440 on xb271hu with gtx680 ftw 4gb?
Answer12/20/2015 7:40:06 AM *****
I can confirm that you are able to get 144hz on both the display port and over DVI. Both standards will also push out 1440 at 144hz of course for DVI you have to make sure the cable is a Dual-Link cable.
Regards, EVGA
