As a mechanic I would put Teflon tape on fittings like these. So should I be doing it here or not? I want to think yes with special attention paid to the tape not going past the end of the fittings to avoid the tape getting loose in the fluids.

There is an O-Ring on the fitting to seal it, that is outside of the threads. Vehicle and home parts generally have the rubber gasket inside of the threads.

You should not need Teflon tape to seal threads.

Also, there are some premix coolants that do not play well with the Teflon tape, I have seen them come out as this slimey stringy mess and get stuck in blocks and pumps.

Yup, agreed. Do not use teflon tape. Teflon tape will make it more likely to leak if it balls up in the o-ring seal, will potentially get into the cooling system and cause clogs, and creates a mess.

Thanks for the info sorry for late response, but had to make an emergency trip to Nebraska for a family member. Now that I am back and read these posts.

I did not use the Teflon tape. After first putting it together I was surprised that I was not leaking any water. I am still thinking about putting the red coolant in that I bought but everything I am reading is basically saying to just stay with plain old distilled water, I am using a kill coil for now with the setup.

I am still not done with the build yet but it is coming along nicely. Can not wait to show it off.

Edited because after reading my own post I must have been pretty tired because it made no sense.

I`ve been running plain ol grocery store bought distilled water with the silver Kill Coil for years now and have had no problems what so ever.

    No Teflon Tape!
It may stop the O-Ring from sealing as well.
