Hello! When playing my games my screen goes black, my monitor goes into sleep mode and it never turns back on.
I just got a new gpu, the 970 4gb edition. This was  after i RMA'd my 770 2gb for just completely dying. There was a "hotfix" or something my buddy gave me a while ago.
It stopped the Nvlddmkm Error but this time around its not in the event logs. Should apply the same "hotfix" or is there somethign else i could do?
If theres any other info you need let me know!
New motherboard as well.
here are my specs if they mean anything.
Intel DH67clb3 mobo
i7 2600k
1 x 8gb hyper x ram
256gb 850 evo ssd
1.3 tb hitachi hdd
1 tb western digital hdd
corsair 700w psu
970 4gb sc acx 2.0

Having the exact same issue with the exact same card, two months old.
Encountered the issue when trying to play The Witcher 3, however nearly 30 hours of Fallout 4 went smoothly.

I read online that underclocking the card might help but that doesn't seem to me like a fitting solution from EVGA's side.

Still having problems with mine on my 2nd RMA. I have tried everything from ram to new motherboard. Turned all my OC on cpu and ram off as well. Still having same issues.

My new card just crashed today for the first time. Pc totally froze, sounds got stuck in a loop. Had to hold down my power button for 10 sec for the pc to shutdown.

I see this sometimes too and I unplug the monitor and it comes back.
Turning the monitor off and on does not work.

I know many will disagree, but I can bet, its drivers related. I seems a lot of the new drivers causing random issues to different cards I had that a lot with some previous drivers and It was random I couldn't reproduce it even if I want it to.
For me the latest 362 and ONLY some of the  few  drivers before that e.g. 355 .xx were working  without hiccup, you just have to find the right for you, unfortunately, you  can't depend on Nvidia  to make drivers that will work for everyone, sadly.

Yap.. could be a combination of other things, but this might not be card related issue at all.
Someone suggested to me to turn the monitor off and unplug it from power source for hour or two than plug it in, that will reset monitor to default settings and some capacitors when they get hot they can cause  disconnections as well  it did work for me as well, not having monitors issue ever since.

Sometimes combination of drivers, monitor and other things can get overwhelming to pin point on source of the issue

An example how some cards will not tolerate some of the new drivers! I have old MSi 660 in one of my sons PC and its on I think 344 drivers, it works sweet.
I used afterburner and that card can hit 1380Mhz stable and still run at 65C max, that is a amazing for old and small card. I changed drivers to 362 and than 365.19 and card crashing, went back to old drivers and all runs smoothly.

Could be one way for NVIDIA to push users to buying newer cards.

I'll give this a try next time.
Ill under clock if the monitor thing doesn't work.
If that doesnt work ill try the patch my friend gave me.
Then if i have to roll back drivers.
If not then write a mean letter to nvidia.
I dont have the problem AsecndanceV is having. I can hear the audio playing in the background and my buddies
in Teamspeak are still talking to me.
I dont play to often so I'll test these and report back her if i can remember to.

What monitor are you using? Sounds like the new card is at fault if it wasn't happening with your old card.

I got it new 3 years ago.
Would be rather disappointing if it would be defective that quick.
I guess I can try playing on my TV but thats a pain in the ass and seeing if it happens then.
"Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered." it said this twice in event viewer
These events happened before i completely turned my computer off.

Can you test the card(s) in another computer, Non-Dell.

Have you tried running the card in debug mode to see if it helps stop the problem? How old is your psu? Does the issue occur on both dvi & vga outputs? Are you connecting your tv to your 970 via hdmi?

All seem to work fine. Will try more.

I had my first driver has crashed and blah blah error this past Saturday. My issues were caused by an unstable CPU overclock through. Screen flashed black, game exited to desktop, error about nvidia driver has stopped and recovered in the lower right corner. It has not happened again the last 48 hrs since stabilizing the VCORE.

So it was the drivers. I had TDR's with previous drivers as I mentioned, couldn't keep my monitor on under some load , until ONLY few previous drivers including 362 that is rock solid.

My issues was i couldn't do anything as i get no video signal to my tv or monitor.
It fixed my issue, but i don't know if it will fix yours but as far as im concerned it couldn't cause any harm.

a driver issue? Im assuming so because i had my 770 for quite a while then this issue came about. I cant think of any other reason other than a driver causing it.
I believe TDRdelay is the amount of you give your GPU to recover after it 'crashes', for lack of a better term.

My buddy has had it on 660 and his 970.
I had this on my 770 and 970.
