Forgive me as this may be a stupid question to some.  I am new to some of the newer connections on graphics cards and I don't want to purchase the wrong cable.   I have 2 of the Asus VX238H Monitors http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236327.   That being said, I run a dual monitor setup that is connected via a dvi (video card output) to hdmi cable to my monitor.  If I want to use the display port connection on the gpu is it as simple as using a display port to hdmi cable?  Can the connections be mixed, like one monitor using the dvi gpu output and one monitor using the display port output?

To clarify, are you doing this with the GTX660 in your forum sig?

Your card has 2 DVI, 1 HDMI and 1 DP. Is there any particular reason why you want to use the DP?

Hook up one display via one of the DVI ports. Then hook up the second one via either the HDMI or second DVI port. There is no reason to be using DP unless you have DP on the display.

DVI and HDMI are interoperable cable protocols. DP is not though.

I hooked one monitor up via DP, and one via DVI-D.  Works fine, except the main monitor on DP won't show anything until windows starts to load.  The 2nd monitor on DVI does show the post screen so if I want to get into the bios luckily I can.

Still not understanding why you're using DP on an HDMI display. No reason to when there are two DVI and an HDMI port on the card. Using DP just because it's a newer port type does not make it better suited for use. DP to HDMI or DP to DVI often times means an active adapter with transcoder chip being used. You don't want to be transcoding anything through an active adapter unless there is no other option available. It's always better to use a native port type.
