Why not just buy EVGA from Newegg or Microcenter? I'm sure they can better accommodate your shipping needs.

There is no Microcenter within 150 miles of me, but I order from them all the time. I purchased my EVGA DDR4 kit from them.

Sounds more like a certain warehouse employee doesn't give crap one about his job, and I'm fully expecting someone from EVGA who matters will soon post on this thread asking you to contact them, and they will see you right, as they always do. No need for dramatics.

While I do not agree with the guy pretty much laughing in your face, it makes complete sense why it would cost $50 for shipping. Were you trying to ship 2 day shipping? That will jump the price. The fact you're in Hawaii may matter as well (EVGA is in California, yes?) as the only actual shipping methods then are either boat or by air, so the price goes up. There could as well be other facts that I'm completely missing here too.

I am another member who prefers USPS not only for the more reasonable price but for reliability. The front doors on my apartment complex are locked now so I have to wait all day to let UPS in the door. My EVGA 1300 G2 power supply didn't get here until 6:30 p.m. while USPS gets here everyday around 10:30 a.m. and he has a key.

I'm pretty certain you could arrange something similar with UPS. You just have to call their office. Usually it's the same driver that would deliver in your neighborhood.

UPS in this area prefers to deliver to businesses first. So, I listed myself as a company address. No joy. The next time they show up past 5:00 p.m. I am going inside and they can try again the next day. Amazon has their own shipping company now and they will call my cell number to let me know they are outside. With UPS I have to pay for a Premium Membership to have this option available to me.

I'm a prime member. Would they accommodate my needs since I'm at an apartment complex, and/or ship to me at a certain time? I'm asking you because it looks like you already have experience with them already. I thought they used UPS.

After you place your order and see this tracking information, AMZL_US, Tracking #, I think there is an option for special instructions for delivery. I request a phone call when item is at my door and provide my phone number. IDK if they can provide a specific delivery time. It's a lot better than having to sit on my front steps all day waiting for UPS. I know to stick around the house if I'm expecting a delivery but with Amazon I can sit here at my PC or watch TV and not worry about missing them. I only wish I could have afforded the Prime Membership this year but it's too expensive right now. The only advantage for me is the free 2-day shipping since I don't listen to their streaming music or watch their movies. I would have to spend another $99 for one of their Amazon Firesticks or something like that to watch it on my TV.

Shipping companies like UPS make backroom deals with businesses like evga, they give them a discount if they sign exclusive contract with them. The only thing that will change that is lots of complaints from customers to evga corporation. If they see more customers wanting USPS option, they could make changes once the contract with UPS is up.

I noticed that when I ordered T-shirts last time. The USPS shipping option was missing making the shipping close to $20 for 4 T-shirts. EVGA fixed that for me and I thank them for that. I have also been given the explanation that UPS forced EVGA to sign an exclusive contract to get discounted shipping costs.

An expensive item like a video card should be shipped by a reputable carrier.   With point to point tracking.  I'd hardly trust USPS to do it right after receiving many damaged products with bent boxes.  Signature is also required on some items.  Not to say UPS doesn't have their own problems.. Just lesser of the evils.   My preference has always been fedex.  Mainly because they deliver on time and I've had far less problems for my area than UPS.  Ever tried to process a claim on damaged items with USPS?  It's like pulling teeth

USPS has issues with updating the status and location of your parcel but when the mail carrier drops it off it updates immediately. Go figure. I shipped a defective Maelstrom V2 back to Swiftech via USPS and when it got there it suddenly became undeliverable as addressed. It sat for two weeks before it made its way back to me. I got a refund on shipping costs and suddenly UPS was less expensive. Someone at Staples doesn't know what they're doing or they don't like me and give me inflated costs just for spite. My replacement Maelstrom V2 is finally on its way here but it is coming UPS which means another day wasted sitting on my front steps. Harumph!

I honestly do not blame EVGA at all for not going with USPS. USPS does not have a good reputation for shipping fragile material. UPS is definitely the way to go for electronics and/or fragile merchandise. The fact it was $50 has nothing to do with EVGA. That is UPS pricing. Fuel price, surcharge rating also apply as well. EVGA is also trying to protect your product. I can see why they would skip right over USPS and go with UPS. I'm not quite sure if they offer Fed-Ex, though. Having a signature requirement is only for the customer's protection. That's a good thing.

When I select 'EggSaver' for free shipping the end result is up in the air. I have had PC cases shipped USPS and sticks of RAM shipped UPS. Makes no sense but that's what I get for trying to save a buck. I couldn't believe it when I saw my mailman carrying the huge box with a PC case in it but it was in perfect condition. He told me that it was nothing. USPS will ship bumpers and even fenders for cars.

    Dear redflag9000,

I am sorry that you are upset by the shipping options that we offer and also by the person that you talked to.  I have reviewed the call in question and I am sorry for any confusion, but I assure you that our tech did not and would not laugh at you or any of our customers.  I can confirm that you did talk to Erin and he is a very friendly person.  I did hear the question of if we can ship in the medium flat rate box and the answer was that the only shipping options are the ones on the site, which is true.

I assure you that we do care for all of our customers and that is why we want to ensure that they receive their product without any issue and as quickly as possible.  Unfortunately as everyone knows the flat rate boxes are not insured and can take longer to be delivered.  Since it is not insured then if something should occur to the product or it is not delivered then there is no recourse to recover that item.

UPS is the complete opposite as the item would be fully insured and arrive in a timely manner for you.  If something should occur during transit then we would be able to process the insurance on that shipment and ship another product as soon as possible to assist.  I can confirm that since we are shipping from California to Hawaii the least expensive shipping that we do offer is by UPS Air 2nd day shipping, which is quick to arrive. Please understand however that if this option is not right for you, then I do recommend checking with a local computer store or considering a different re-seller that may have other shipping options.  I have included a link to a list of online re-sellers below to assist.

    EVGA re-sellers: http://www.evga.com/Products/WhereToBuy.aspx

Once again we are very sorry to see that you are upset and I assure you that we do appreciate you as a customer.  Please do not hesitate to let me know if you should have any additional questions or concerns with our products or services. chrisb@evga.com

I've been an Evga customer for 10 years. I have always loved Evga, and thought that they make some of the best products on the market. Every video card and motherboard I have ever purchased came from Evga, but recently they made a change on their website that has made me decide to shop elsewhere. I live in Hawaii, and as a result UPS shipping prices to Hawaii are ridiculous. As a result, we use USPS for our mail needs as USPS is cheaper.

Today I was intending on buying a GTX 970, but because Evga only ships via UPS, the cheapest shipping option was nearly $50. By contrast, the same video card would easily fit in a USPS medium size flat-rate Priority Mail box, and it would ship for exactly $12.35. I called Evga's office, spoke to a customer service rep, and was not only told that offering a reasonable option to ship this item was not possible, but in addition the guy laughed at me because I am unwilling to pay $50 to ship one video card.

I am pretty disappointed I have to leave the brand I always loved just because Evga cant be bothered to hand the Mail Man a package when he comes by to drop off the rest of the mail (which is free by the way).

All the carriers work together. USPS pays FedEx to ship air packages around the country. UPS likes to use USPS to deliver the last mile whenever possible. The only issue I've ever had with USPS, is lazy mail person cramming a box inside the mailbox, because she was too lazy to walk up to the house, probably too busy yappin on the cell phone. One call to USPS office, it never happened again.

My apologies to Erin. I had been mistaken about the identity and thinking that Erin was a female I asked about 'Cooties' which is something only a girl would know about. It's just something I have to know and the question was on my 'bucket list' of things I had to know. Now I have to put it back on my bucket list again. Drats! Of course Erin wouldn't have cooties. Only girls have cooties. I had to do a Google search to see if Erin could indeed be a man's name and I was surprised. I once again apologize to Erin. Until I was around 16 years old I thought that the only spelling was Shawn until I met someone whose name was spelled Sean.

The fact he laugh may have been taken completely out of context. many people like to give a chuckle occasionally because it can help break the ice a bit. I don't know how it was presented though, but we can tell it didn't help the situation.

It was a long time ago and no he wasn't offended even though until now I was under the impression I was asking a woman. Sorry, but when I picture someone named Erin I see a red haired girl. So much for stereotyping.
