Its similar to the Z97 build. Differences are: case (windowed), motherboard (Z170), CPU (6th Gen), DRAM (DDR4) and cooler (H100i v2).

You gotta have a window or all of your work and extra time and effort you put into your build never gets noticed. Just my thoughts on the matter. There are times I wish I didn't have a stinking window especially when it comes to my cable management skills (or lack of them anyway). LOL

Same here. Having four fans in a push/pull config inside my case is impossible because of where the heatsinks around the CPU are located. I barely have 1/8" clearance now. Sadly there is no room under the cap on top of my case for extra fans unless I drilled out the rivets and removed the handle.

I used the fans to mount the case to the radiator. 8x 1 1/4in. 6-32 screw through the fan holes, through the mesh holes, to the radiator. I'm pleased how it all turned out.

    4.7GHz wasn't as stable as I thought. Settling for 4.6GHz @ 1.35v.

That's still a nice OC. I have been thinking about trying for 4.8 GHz again since my temps are so low with this EK Supremacy EVO copper block. I had it at 4.8 GHz using 1.280 as my vCore but I started getting BSOD after a week or so. I was afraid of using too much voltage but now I am thinking about 1.310 to 1.350 to see if I can be stable at 4.8 GHz just for kicks.

Is higher BCLK better? I'm thinking.... BCLK=>FSB? Similar to CPU overclocking back in the day? FSBxMultiplier?

I just leave mine at 100. I can move it up or down but only a small amount if my failing memory serves me well. I never messed with it because I was told it could affect stability of the PCI-E lanes. I didn't look into it, it's just what I was told but you have a newer processor that might control your PCI-E lanes differently than mine.

I may be wrong, but I think it essentially OC's the PCI-E lanes too. They have a new option called "FCLK" that is supposed to add 1-3% free performance to dedicated GPUs. The BCLK multiplier affects all...max turbo/cache clocks, DRAM and FCLK. I was thinking about posting @ ASUS ROG forums. Thanks again Zuhl3156, and don't feel bad....I'm 42 and am starting to forget stuff all the time....

I haven't been in my BIOS for a while but I think my next step is 125 MHz and it is set and not adjustable. Many complained about it causing instability for their video boards and is why I didn't play around. I've been thinking about putting my multiplier back up to 48 with voltages around 1.31 to 1.35 since my CPU temps are so good with this EK copper block. I worry about degradation at that speed and voltage that the review sites encountered when the 4790k was first released. The only thing it'll really do for me is give me higher benchmark scores so I am still debating whether it is worth it or not just for bragging rights.

I got 4 minutes into the XTU stress test for CPU before I got a BSOD x124 with my multiplier at 48 and vCore at 1.350 before I remembered that almost every review claimed that 4.8 GHz was never completely stable for them no matter how much voltage they rammed down its throat. Multiplier now down to 47 but I didn't bother lowering the vCore. I used to run at 1.280 but it was occasionally unstable so I could probably get away with using 1.310 vCore. I'll just stay at 4.7 GHz for now.

Nice oc. 4.7 requires 1.38-1.42 and too much heat for h100i v2 to keep up.

HWMonitor is showing my vCore only reaching 1.344 so it's either not accurate or my CPU is being limited by some BIOS setting. There was one CPU setting that had to be entered in Amps instead of watts so I left it at Auto. IDK if this is a good thing or not. Everything is perfectly stable right now and temps are only 4 degrees higher than before. Sitting at Desktop all of my temps, CPU and both GPU, are only 2 degrees above ambient. I can't complain until it starts getting hotter here on the East Coast and I need to run my AC to keep ambient temps down. I can't believe that 4.8 GHz is not possible and keep stable at these voltages. I need to go through my BIOS and check all of my vDroop and other oddball settings.

4.8 is not possible for me either. I've been using 200MHz for BCLK recently.

Yeah, but this 4790k is the one that Intel bragged could do 5.0 GHz on air. Ha!

    Update:
This build started out with me adding another FTW+ for SLI and adding the 1300 G2 PSU. Then it turned into a completely new build. This build was inspired by Dimebag Darrell's Dime Bolt graphic from his signature Dean Razorback guitars!

    Thanks for stopping by!

The new build should be great but maybe it's better if you start a whole new thread.
