 Hey all,

 I'm set to order one of the evga's 980's..or a couple by Monday.

 And while i'm leaning towards to sc'ed models(blower style)i'm curious
as to what the difference is from the reference 980?

 I know evga states a higher boost clock..that's obvious.

 But is it that it's a guaranteed higher clock boost for the 980sc?

 Or is it still a lottery where the reference model can deliver
a higher boost clock?

 It's no big deal, but if it saves $20 or $30 for an sli, that may save
me $60.

 And usually i go with the sc'ed blower style, but i'm just curious
if it's a lock that the sc'ed has the better clock speeds(and asic rating)

{i'm asking also because i once had a gtx780 sc'ed have a higher asic
then a 780 classified model[with a listed higher boost], and was clocking
the same on air, but the price was lower}

TIA

    This, you just get a overclock from the factory that's known to be stable. As far as what you will get for asic ratings, still silicon lottery.

    Vanilla cards can outperform factory overclocked cards in terms of overclocking, just as easily as they end up being poorer overclockers.  ASIC is always a guessing man's/woman's game.
