As long as it hits 4.0Ghz on single threads, seems like a good step. Personally, I'd like to see a i5 45watt quad core, hits 4.0Ghz on two-four(on turbo) threads for laptops and desktop CPUs.

AMD needs some good management and get some old school AMD back in the game....

Thus far, all unlocked quads since 32nm Sandy Bridge (22nm Ivy Bridge and 22nm Haswell) have been stuck into the highest TDP brackets, never the legacy 65W TDP that mainstream sits in.  In addition, like mobile, I'm skeptical that the advanced models of Broadwell in LGA1150 with the eDram cache will be in lower TDP brackets unless the base clockspeed was low with a high Turbo bin, i.e. -R models, which typically aren't unlocked.

Considering that Intel has a history of deliberately putting high-end parts in higher brackets, regardless of actual wattage of the slowest in the TDP category, to make sure OEMs and system builder use the proper heatsink (because this is an area they all try to skimp out on), I'm a bit skeptical Fudzilla can assume their source discovered Broadwell-K news.  We could be looking at Broadwell-R.

For Intel processors, 0.122 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].

AMD will never be back in game in the desktop market. If AMD were to be a runner, he had a good start compared to Intel, but was running too slow and fell too far behind. No matter how hard they try, they will never be back in the game.
As for the 4Ghz CPU in a laptop, I don't think we will see that for a long time unless the laptop is plugged in the wall and has a cooling pad.

He did say single-threads, i.e. TurboBoost, and the Haswell refresh brought Core i7-4980HQ and Core i7-4940MX.  One is an unlocked 8MB cache quad-core and the other is a 6MB cache Crystal Well quad-core (thus has an Iris Pro 5200 on board).

I guess I don't know what is "a long time" to you, but since all mobile 22nm i7's with a TurboBoost maximum of the lower 3GHz still charge $350+ while those running near to 3GHz on all four cores cost twice that, maybe towards the end of the 14nm cycle we'll see the next jump.

Sooo will these puppies fit into Z87 boards since they're also 1150 sockets, or no?
