Lost my old account info so starting over:/. I work a lot and have limited free time, but have been playing Battlefield 4/ Star Wars Battlefront beta when I can lately. Both run very well and smooth, specs on my PC will follow. The most recently released specs for battlefront make me think I may need to get away from PC gaming (due to cost/time) OR get more RAM. Obviously, a RAM upgrade is more cost efficient than a console. I would appreciate your feedback, I will admit I am kinda out of the loop lately!

You can do a password recovery on evga forums. The old account has all your evga hardware tied to it. If you ever need to do a RMA, you will need access to account the hardware is register under.

You can squeeze a few more years out of X58 if you really want to.  I say wait to see whats on sale during blackfriday to make up your mind.

Your pc still looks capable and you're right, some more RAM is not too much (I thought an i7 930 @ 4.2Ghz was faster than a stock 2500K for gaming anyway?) . What resolution do you game at because if it's 1080p or so you should be fine.

You could always get a console and buy a XIM4. I have one and it makes console gaming pretty comparable to PC gaming. Not to mention being used to playing as master race against the plebs is super easy.

I have a XIM3 for the 360 and love it! I wouldn't go around announcing that you use one though.. controller nubs get mad.
I purchased a used Xbox One last week for $150, picking up a Kinect today for $60 and received the TV Tuner yesterday for $60. For me, using it as a set top box is what I was interested in. With Windows 10 and SmartGlass, I can stream to my PC or mobile device and not interrupt my wife. My 360 takes forever to load apps and I'm hoping that the Xbox One will be a breath of fresh air (I haven't had time to tare down my entertainment center, dust and re-wire).
My PC specs are in my sig (I think), and I don't plan on upgrading my P55 for a while. If I do, I would probably buy a Surface Book or Surface Pro instead. Heck, even the standard surface wouldn't be bad if I streamed from my main PC.
I spend little time actually at my PC lately.

Thanks for the feedback all. I am playing at 1080p and I will not be upgrading my monitor. I do prefer PC gaming and am wondering if this is the last upgrade before being completely out of date.

Also looking at my local microcenter's Crucial Ballistix memory (in stock) for convenience, but I have no experience with this brand and not sure how good they are.

They all have good looking identical timing specs but I would choose these just for the better price. There's no need for a RAM cooling fan unless you just want it for looks. The voltage is lower at 1.5v for this set also which I really like.

What is your opinion on the CCrucial Ballistix memory? If that is alright I may run to the store and get it today.

They have nice tight timing specs and low voltage too. Although I have no personal experience with Crucial I think those memory modules would make a nice upgrade for you.

I like Crucial memory and had some in my last rig. As for upgrading the main components, the i5-2500k is slightly faster vs the i7-930 but it's also easier to overclock and uses less juice. Keep in mind that it's also a bit old now and the new ones are a bit faster and more efficient.

Gskill fan here. I have been running 2 kits of these for years now in this rig at 8-8-8-24 2000 . 6 gigs runs 7-8-7-20 200. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231251 After searching for a while cant seem to find more. Hope mine don't die before I upgrade my motherboard.

Thanks for the feedback again everyone. I did pick up that Crucial Ballistix RAM, computer didn't blow up so I think I am all good. Bios settings change was easy and all of it shows up. Funny thing was I was running a couple rounds of battlefield 4 and my system memory use was at 5.9 gigs (has 6).....evidently I was riding the razor's edge for a while.
