I don't mind the questions :) Just wish I had more time to answer these days!

Anyways, yes the 780 Classified waterblock will be available separately. Price should be similar to that of other blocks from EVGA.

One thread may be a good idea. Will look into it!

Jacob my wife is looking for a job hire her as a assistant as long as she can WFH she can help you out =0) Plus would give me free inside goodie information and probably a nice discount at EVGA see win win for everyone!

Hah good idea

Thanks for responding but can you give us an ETA on the Classified Hydro Copper?  End of August?  Sept?

It slipped due to the 770 Classified waterblock took priority right now. (The blocks are cut on CNC machine so the output is limited) 780 Classified block should be around mid August.

Does this mean we can soon start seeing some GTX 770 Classified Hydro Coppers available?  I have been considering going with a 3 way 770 setup over a 2 way 780 setup.

The Frozen redesign is no different then the ACX design on the classified, its 2 fans on top of a big ass heat sink. Aesthetic wise will it look better, probably. Honestly I kinda like the look of the ACX design it looks sleek and professional, if it had some chrome effects on it I think it would be one of the best looking fans on the market.

Apparently you were wrong here.

The MSI GTX 780 Lightning will have 3 (yes, three) fans. Probably 2x 100mm and in the middle 1x 92mm fan.

Source: videocardz.com

I am looking forward (when both cards are widely available) to see them in a head-to-head benchmark and overclocking possibilities.
Though I must admit one thing; the yellow fan in the middel is ugly (though it suits the theme I am using in my rig).

Bigger fans are more quiet in general. That's why I use 140mm fans (8x) on my radiator, instead of 120mm fans.
However we have to wait for the reviews dropping in though...

They can be and so can smaller fans.

120mm fans on radiators are the standard for radiators since they have better pressure than 140mm+ mm fans.  Can the 140 have higher CFM than the 120mm? Sure, but they won't have that pressure that is needed for radiators to better help dissipate heat.  You can take a bigger fan with low pressure vs. a high pressure 120 and I bet you the 120 will out perform it in temps.

Very true, not trying to jump the gun here lol  , we shall wait and see.

Fans volume is dependent on the bearings used internally. I am not going to get into who is right or wrong on what aspect of the card build is used based on outdated and speculative information that any of us had at the time. Regarding fan volume, any fan that uses ball bearings is going to be quite at least for a while. Here are the types of bearings that you can get in your fans.

The type of bearing used in a fan can affect its performance and noise. Most computer fans use one of the following bearing types:
  • Sleeve bearings use two surfaces lubricated with oil or grease as a friction contact. They often use porous sintered sleeves to be self-lubricating, requiring only infrequent maintenance or replacement. Sleeve bearings are less durable at higher temperatures as the contact surfaces wear and the lubricant dries up, eventually leading to failure; however, lifetime is similar at relatively low ambient temperatures.[5] Sleeve bearings may be more likely to fail at higher temperatures, and may perform poorly when mounted in any orientation other than vertical. The lifespan of a sleeve-bearing fan may be around 40,000 hours at 50 °C. Fans that use sleeve bearings are generally cheaper than fans that use ball bearings, and are quieter at lower speeds early in their life, but can become noisy as they age.[5]
  • Rifle bearings are similar to sleeve bearings, but are quieter and have almost as much lifespan as ball bearings. The bearing has a spiral groove in it that pumps fluid from a reservoir. This allows them to be safely mounted with the shaft vertical (unlike sleeve bearings), since the fluid being pumped lubricates the top of the shaft.[6] The pumping also ensures sufficient lubricant on the shaft, reducing noise, and increasing lifespan.
  • Ball bearings: Though generally more expensive, ball bearing fans do not suffer the same orientation limitations as sleeve bearing fans, are more durable at higher temperatures, and are quieter than sleeve-bearing fans at higher rotation speeds. The lifespan of a ball bearing fan may be over 60,000 hours at 50 °C.[5]
  • Fluid bearings have the advantages of near-silent operation and high life expectancy (comparable to ball bearings), but tend to be the most expensive.
  • Magnetic bearings or maglev bearings, in which the fan is repelled from the bearing by magnetism.

Is there any info if Amazon will be carrying the 780 Classified?  They only have a couple reseller listings and they are both well over $800 USD.  I have been patiently waiting for this and would prefer to get one from Amazon but am not going to pay over $100 USD over MSRP.

I think you have to be patient for a couple of week. Maybe anywhere between 4 - 8 weeks.

The reason I prefer Amazon is that I have Prime 2 day shipping and $250 worth of credits and giftcards there.  So essentially if I buy from Amazon I will only be paying $450 for my Classified instead of the $699 + shipping at Newegg :)

I currently only game at 1200p but I have aspirations to get a 1440p monitor because the Dell 27 inchers are usually on sale every other week for under $600.   All this waiting has been making me seriously considering just gettting a Titan since it will only cost me $750 instead of $999 and I will have some future proofing with the extra ram.

Yep - Free 2nd day ship is truly fantastic ----> whether it's with Amazon / Prime or with Newegg / ShopRunner ...
... as Rei pointed out, it will flat-out spoil you for waiting on anything that gets shipped regularly ...
... the $3.99 next day with Prime is killer as well ...

Just a little thinking after posting over in the binning question thread.....

Glad they are in stock. You can only bin these things so fast, its not like every other chip is up to Classy standard, gotta build an inventory thru binning. Say you got chips from Nvidia and tested them all, 1/10 are Classy ready, you need to have at least 100 ready to develop, launch, and ship a bulk amount of Classys. That means you've got to at least bin 1000 chips! Just pointing out that you can't make rare skus if you haven't binned the chips, and if you launch before you have enough inventory to meet demand, that 1/10 binned chip figure becomes a bottleneck.

I'm just saying that its not like a company wants to have supply shortages. Even if planning is perfect, there is an element of randomness, and efficiency sometimes necessitates these supply shortages.

A business should never appear to put profit ahead of consumer, but sometimes they have to do just that if they want to continue to be a business, because if they don't make profit they close down and we never get Classys. Just my 2 cents.
