Wow I just ran across the website that featured the tron cycle, and the desk as well as tons of others!!! And Just sat here and read these 3 pages of this thread. Now I see why there was so much uh...animosity, for lack of a better word? It should have been titled "hometown hero, or "home boy" vs. Stockholm maybe then it would have been more in flow with all the ... uh bashing? again for lack of a better word! Last night I was looking at the L3P desk as it was an idea of mine a couple years ago to make something like that and then to see it, in the flesh, and all blinged out was well unbelievable! Had I know about the voting It would have gotten mine, even knowing that the Tron builder was an evga member and a "hometown hero" but thats not to say that I am not happy for him, and that his build wasn't as good? It was a great mod, but I just prefer the desk over the cycle. Also nice work on the vote rally to come from behind and smoke the competition. Great job! It seems like where ever you go people are going to smashmouth you for your opinion and geez I hope I don't lose anymore sleep over the flack I will probably take from my "OPINION" here in this thread. I'm just stating that I liked the desk better thats all, I remember a Battlestar Galactica ship build and it too just didn't do it for me though it was beautiful, and incredible! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder folks, and one mans trash is anothers treasure. So just remember the next time you are getting ready to bash some one for stating their opinion, remember this "who died and left you the dictator?" Peace and good will to ALL! and to all a good night....or day!

Re:Dear EVGA members we need you 2011/10/05 03:22:13 (permalink)
It had nothing to do with who or where the builder of the case was for me. The Tron bike simply rocked. If it had not won the contest was rigged. The Tron bike has been on display now at several computer events for several big companies including Intel.

It won on it's own merits.

You live in Florida and use dictator in your saying? We don't have a dictator in the US and the saying goes "who died and left you the boss".

See It seems I offended you kram, and that exactly what I didn't want to do! I used dictator on purpose as that was how I felt, again my opinion. I know it won on its merit, as I said it is an amazing mod all the way around and I love it as well, but personally I just liked the desk better. Sorry if I made you mad, or mad at me! Please don't hold it against me because I live in Florida, I was born here though I have lived in other states too. I guess I prefer sweltering heat over snow and ice! Again sorry Kram didn't want to start anything, just stating my opinion.

I'm not mad at all lol. Your post was insinuating that we only wanted the Tron bike to win because Boddaker is a member of the forums.

I didn't mean for it to come out like that! I should have stated "to all the bashers out there" anyways glad we're still buds! It was a stellar come from behind win though, and the winner is always the best! Well its supposed to be that way but too many times it sadly is not! The Rays blew their chance to make the ALCS... again... to Texas.... AGAIN! Maybe I'll move to Texas and start rooting for the Rangers!!! At least the Bucs won their Monday night game! Maybe the Rays will fork out some cash for some payroll next year, but I doubt it! Anyways I have been wanting to make a "desktop pc" for about a year now and was looking for ideas last night when I came across the l3p desk at tweakers.net and thats where I saw Tron and alot of other incredible mods. My desk is going to be portable like desks are supposed to be and with all the room available I am going to compartmentalize it. with the mobo in a sealed compartment and I am going to see about using an ac to cool the cpu, nb and vreg. Its definitely not going to be a permanent fixture to the house, because I like to move stuff around too much and for that it has to be mobile! It is in the thinking, planning stage now. S maybe it will be finished in a couple years lol!

The desk wasn't total rubbish and your right it was just my opinion so yeah if you like the desk thats ok lots of members here voted for it. I just personally thought it lacked the technical difficulty of the tron bike like comparing a double backflip pike to dropping a bomb. Although it looks impressive it lacks a certain skill in the execution...

Oh and,

CONGRADULATION BODDAKER !!!!!!!!

Yes the Tron bike is beautiful, amazing and all that other good stuff, oh yeah and number 1. I just happened to stumble on the builds on a website yesterday so thats the only reason I came by here to congratulate the winner, and of course throw in my 2 cents worth! I do believe I am going to go ahead with my desk mod. And of course using the L3P as a reference I will add my own ideas to it. My original plan was for it to be an actual desk, and as such it will be able to be moved in the event I want to rearrange the room, or if we move I don't want to have to go to any more trouble than disconnecting my current pc's, so in that regard it will be mobile. Also I have always wanted to have a custom case that could house 2 seperate pc's and the "desk" would definately fit that bill as well as function as a audio/media desktop as I want to get back into audio recording, production and mastering! Lots to do to start planning! And again congratulations to you boddaker! You are an amazing Artist and craftsman!

A round of applause goes to each and everyone of the people that entered that contest.  No matter if it where the person building the Tron Cycle or the desk or any of the other rigs.  That contest just shows the dedication and time people will put into there rigs just like a lot of people here at EVGA.  I voted and had a favorite as well.  IMHO, they are all winners.

And back from the dead ._.

Anyways. I voted for the tron bike, Not because it was a forum member but because it was the  best looking and most original mod on there.

As for the desk its something i have seen done a few times before. looks nice but not as nice as the bike and does not take as much effort ether.

Have been making priliminary shetches and list for my desk build, and even got my fiance interested in helping. It is going to be more of a wall unit / entertainment / computer station'S / Digital audio work station, one media center pc, her pc, and my super pc. Cooling is going to be done by air conditioning the compartments that need it (pc compartments, psu compartments, etc etc. shooting for a 42" LED TV, and 3 more 34 inch samsungs. This is gong to take longer to build and finance than the deathstar (the real one) but i will document every step of the way!

Re:Dear EVGA members THANK YOU! 2011/12/29 14:27:12 (permalink)
First off, I want to thank each and every one of you for voting and cheering me on.  It's been a wild ride, throughout the competition and after as well.

Secondly, I'd like to apologize for not commenting in this thread until now lol.  I seldom visit the general discussion forums and was quite surprised when I first saw it.  Anyway, everybody is entitled to their own opinion, and I value all types of criticism.  Case modding is so subjective, there really is no right or wrong way to go about it.

In fact, Bit-Tech.net is holding their Mod of the Year contest and both TRON and L3p D3sk were nominated, along with 23 other fabulous builds.  May of which were also competing in the Cooler Master contest.  So you might call it the Great Case Modding Rematch of 2011 lol.   And who knows if TRON will come out on top again or not.  Either way, I'm honored to have been nominated.

Look for a new mod project from me coming in 2012!

Batman might be a good one to coincide with the latest Batman movie coming out next summer.    However, my next project
will be automotive themed using the brand new Cosmos II ultra tower case from Cooler Master.  That's all I can divulge at this time...
