I was wondering what the best way to control additional fans on the DG87 would be.

There are currently three front fans and two rear controlled by the fan controller. I have my radiator mounted on top with three additional fans. One is able to connect to the fan controller, totaling six but I want to connect all three radiator fans for a total of eight.

I've tried this fan splitter for all three radiator fans into the sixth fan controller slot but with no luck as it just runs all three at max speed permanently.

Is my best option to connect these three to the motherboard pwm headers and use software controls?

Cheers.

Edit: link to my splitter didn't work
2nd edit: can't post links, guessing due to low post count. Splitter is a sata powered asaka brand from Amazon.co.uk

depends on if your radiator fans are PWM or not. if they are then you'll need a PWM splitter and connect it to the motherboard as the fan controller in the case is just a voltage regulated fan controller and not a PWM fan controller.

I used one of these for my Corsair ML140pro's which are PWM capable..

Uses a single 4pin connected to the mobo header to read tach information, and uses a SATA power connector to supply power to all connected fans..You can see it installed in my case in the top right hand side here, it works like a charm! I have all the stock DG87 fan headers used for Front and rear, and the rest I connected to the fan hub.

    As chaosminion said,

an additional fan controller with PWM support would be your best option. You should be able to daisy chain the second fan controller of the original.

Many thanks for the replies. I didn't know I could daisy chain a secondary controller off of the first. I think I'll try that.

    Cheers!

Also, chaosminionx, the cable management in the back of your case is beautiful. Mine looks like a bomb hit it right now 😃
