So I have an interesting problem. Whenever I hit the button on the side to change fan speed etc, the computer reboots.
Every time.I am guessing there is a short somewhere?

Also the power button at the top does not seem to work, I am currently using the reset button. =(

edit, update. opening the side of the case reboots the machine as we..

the fan controller is only connected to molex for power and the 8 fans, not the motherboard. does the system actually shutdown when you press them or does it turn off instantly like it lost power?

as for the power button you also have one on the front of the case, does this one work? if neither one works you'll have to double check the I/O pins to the motherboard that has power/reset/hddled/pwrled.

Edit: when you say opening do you mean front, back, right, or left side? none of these should make you PC reboot but i am assuming its the back and it moves a power connection which is the culprit. i would go through every power cable and make sure it is firmly seated and the clip locked.

Sorry Chris I should or said, it cycles the power when I push the button, just like if I had pressed the reset button. It is only plugged into a old molex. There is something else back there plugged into a sata power as well.

I am talking about the side window. Opening it resets the pc. I am going to go on a limb and say the back door does it as well. Let me post this and see.
Edit, actually backdoor did not cause a reboot.

ok, so if the front panel power also doesn't work and you confirmed it is plugged into the motherboard correctly the only thing left would be the front panel control board... something connected to it is either loose and/or broken. this is probably why it also resets while opening the front panel window. if you can not find anything wrong there than you may need to start the RMA process.

the sata power in back is just for the LED strip.

Make sure your reset buttons/Power buttons are not sticking as well. Mine on my DG-87 do tend to stick and if im not careful touching another button can help trigger the stuck button causing a shutdown or reboot.

Ok guys wanted to update you. I believe I have found the problem.
Upon searching, the top fan was not working so hmmm. Followed the wire and it was unplugged. Upon plugging it back in it seems the reboots went away. I am able to use the side buttons and open the case up while running and no reboots.
Wonder why that one being unplugged would cause that.

    Thanks.

i bet that when you traced that wire and plugging it in you moved the true problem wire enough that a simple jostle will not make the issue show anymore. i see no reason why having a fan plugged in or not would make your PC do that. as i personally have no fans attached to the front panel controller and i do not see this issue.

    I agree.

If you can, check and/or re-do all of your connections just to be safe.
