I thought this was a fairly good way to start  (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4PDoy-mi0A)  It sure opened my eyes a little. But I did notice on my I-7 920 when i was trying to video copy while playing a game @1900x1200, I seemed to lag. I could have dropped the resolution down but wanted to video in that resolution. So my theory was I need a 6 core processor or a better video card than a GTX-295.
This is for those people that wants to upgrade their existing  system !  I am just trying to help the under informed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGdo75gasaQ)  Here is resolution differences in grapics cards(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBN5MNpYWlY) I hope this helps !

the more memory on your gpu the better when video editing,o/c that 920 it still has a lot of life left in it.

    i use I7 [link=mailto:950@3.8]950@3.8[/link]  and a 780ti  and only 6gb memory on my motherboard.
i play all BF4,GHOSTS,CRYSIS 3 and titanfall on highest settings with no problems.

thx for the input( patchesanook ) I have 12gb ddr3 for memory but in the future plan on upgrading video card to what you have basically, with Vram 3gb. I have had this I-7 920 to 4.4 stable usually run it @4.2   I also use a Edge Boost Pro 240 gb ssd.

Do you mean record your gameplay? With newer graphics cards, you can use nvidia shadowplay, which lets you record your games with a small performance hit. It's supposed to be a very small performance hit so you can still game at the same resolution while recording.

A newer graphics card would let you use it. CPU wise for gaming, if you have your i7 920 @ 4.2ghz, you should be fine. I run my 870 at 4ghz and it runs everything I throw at it perfectly.

I feel it's best to upgrade when needed. If your current system runs everything you need without any hiccups, I would see no reason to upgrade. Unless it was for the sake of upgrading or if you got a really good deal.

I've honestly been debating whether I should upgrade to Haswell-E or just stay with what I have now and wait it out. I don't need to upgrade yet. That's a good way to think about upgrading components. Although if you are still running a GTX 295, then your next graphics card should last awhile as well. I'd recommend waiting it out until October/November to see if the 880/870 are released, then upgrade.

I basically put this thread up to help (newer) members. I know what I need and when I tested my system shadowplay wasnt around. My upgrades are targeted so I wont have to upgrade my computer for a few years(Complete system). I personally dont see a need for small jump in performance with what I do with my computer. I need a 780TI with 3gbVram and a 980x or 990X that would make Me Happy! But its not nessary for me to play as of yet !

Thanks for the links to those videos. I'm an older member and it was good to refresh my memory. I'm still running my i5-750 @ 3.2GHz with my 570_stock. It's been a reliable workhorse and I can play most of my games with high detail.

I've been playing a demanding game, STALKER: Lost Alpha, and my 570 just doesn't have enough memory to run the game smoothly. Because money doesn't grow on trees, I've been waiting for the next generation from the Green Team. I'm wondering if I need to upgrade my cpu when the new gpu's come out?
