Hi all,

I just got my 1080 SC from EVGA and love the beast. I saw the card hitting high 70 degrees celcius and I was wondering if I should keep it on auto or create a custom fan profile. I am new to computers and if you use a profile could you tell me what it is?

I prefer custom profile, and for fans to always spin at low RPM when the card idles. Also set it more aggressively than the default one.

I would show you my fan profile but sadly it's not going to help so much. Let me explain.
I used some others fan profiles but found they are not good for my case.. You see, every one has different ambient temperature. The best way is to create a profile that suites your case best. I suggest to try through success and error. Play with it an see what is best for your case / room.

I put my fan on manual at 70%.

When I'm not gaming or using the computer, it's doing .

My 1080 FTW is still very quiet at 70% fan.

I hate the sound of the fan Past 70% ... the sound is kinda distracting.
i have a custom fan curve that keeps my card cool but getting to 68% fan speed max.
also, a manual 70% fan speed is a waste of energy. the card temperature fluctuate and you don't need it to be at 70% all the time in the game.
even Witcher 3 has it's moments when my card is running as cool as 52c and the fan speed needed for that is about 40%.

Can you post pics of the curve? For now I have the auto button selected but was going to use the "aggressive" fan setting.

u could start with a 1:1 ratio fan curve and go from there. 10*c = 10%, 20*c = 20%, 30*c = 30%, etc. see how that works out for your performance/noise level wants/needs and then adjust accordingly.

    everyone's results will vary.

I am curios as I have dual FE's and when the fans hit 60% and above they get really loud. I love my cards but my case is super quite. At idle I can't hear anything. I like to keep my cards cool but I don't want to go liquid. I have really been considering trading up for a pair of SC. Just how loud are the fans at 70% on the ACX.

Using Afterburner to set up Fan Curve is simply USELESS because it does not apply saved OC profile and Fan Curve at system boot...

I'm not sure how you figure that.  I use it everyday.  Just be sure to click on the "Startup" button along with saving your OC and fan profile.

    +1.

As long as you run the software at system start up, your custom fan profile will load up all the time.

look at my picture in post #9.

save your profile in slot 1-5 and then click the "Startup" button in the bottom left corner of the AB UI.
