On the equifax.com page they refer to that website so it should be OK.

That is the website set up when the government mandated that everyone is entitled to a free report every year. It's good to go.

Have not used it, but I used to pay like $8 a month for my credit report. Now I've noticed 2 of my credit cards actually include monthly reports with my credit card statements.

What kind of information you would see on your credit report?  Money you owe? Do they actually know what you made purchase on your credit cards?  Thank you.

Yes it'll show what you owe. No, they don't know what you actually bought. It'll show not only your debts, but all of your accounts, lateness, address history, job history, how many times you've applied for credit, etc.

I use Credit Karma.  It's not 100% accurate, but it gives a good baseline.  It's better now as well because they now give both TransUnion and Equifax scores.

Also, several credit cards will give you your FICO score for free.  It's always good to check that as well.
