I get that there's this guide (edit IDK why the link to /thermal_pad_mod_installation_guide.pdf gets deleted ) but not everything is clear to me, and the pics are really tiny, can I expect a video published on evga youtube channel? that would make the process clear. Or do I have to rely on the community making their own tutorials?

It gets deleted because you do not have enough posts in the forum to add links. You need 10 posts to do so. Have you tried zooming in on the PDF? I can make the photos as large as my screen and view them fine.

The only thing that changes is the thermal pad size from evga, and having to remove the standoffs on the backplate.

I need a video. the images in the provided link are low res, i'm from italy and cant understand all of what's written.
a video would be much more explicative. Cam EVGA take the time to make one? I've spent 420 euros on that 1070 card for my first ever custom build, I dont want it to burn down and damage other pc components, nor i want to accidentally damage it while fixing something that should have worked since the beginning, spending time and money to ship it back.

So please? lots of people have this problem, lots of them are from non english speaking countries, a video step by step would clear all.

I don't want to go to reddit and complain about this, wait for it to blow up and force you or someone else to make a tutorial.
    please

Low res? Right click - open in New tab. These are 18mp pictures. They are not Low res. This site limits the size of an image, so you have to open the pictures.

The only way you will damage the card is dropping it or throwing it. They are not made of glass.

I will see if I can make a video tonight.

I have never edited a full length video, but I will at least try.

    thank you very much
could you use the two narrow and wide pads as they will arrive to us, following the method used in the pdf?
I could understand that more or less, though i repeat the pics are really tiny, but i couldnt understand yours and your guide was different?

Take your time, dont need to make it tonight
or you could ask someone else from EVGA, what I mean is that the written instructions should be followed by a video tutorial with step by step!
I dont want video card to explode or damage it while repairing engeneering fault of this company. I bought the extended warranty because of this mess, on top of 420 euros of video card, but my pc is new, other parts like cpu can damage! does EVGA cover that?

    thanks for understanding

    sorry for bad english btw

The guide I posted is very straight forward, but I think the language barrier may be an issue. If you can understand the guide, but you can't see the pictures, I could redo the pictures from the guide in a larger format.

Video is going to more than likely take until Monday or Tuesday at the absolute earliest.

The only difference between mine and their is the width of the pads. The pads they are using are overly excessive and not necessary to a guide the desired effect.

Unfortunately, I do not own any thermal pads that are that wide, so I would have to order them to be able to make a video.

Yes, I do understand what you are asking for.

Re: Could you post an instruction video on how to apply the thermal pads? 2016/11/02 13:00:00 (permalink)
    Hi, I'm his brother

First of all, I'm extremely disappointed and frustrated by this technical overlook, I'd like to know if it's possible to refund the 2 years additional warranty I purchased, then refund the card from the shop i bought it from and get another 1070 from asus, gigabyte, msi or palit.
This would save me the hassle: I spent 420 euros for this, 20 for additional warranty and now I have to spend time to fix a mistake? then add 10 euros for the cleaning kit, i could have bought a G1...
I get that the cards are "within specifications", however even 90 C is within specification of a gpu chip, that doesnt mean anyone would accept reading that temp in afterburner or whatever monitoring software they're using. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd like to report again that pics in thermal_pad_mod_installation_guide.pdf are too small: i opened them on two different PCs and my ipad, I dont know how to make it more clear: they are too small, and missing details, even many among the ones in your own guide are out of focus, e.g. i cant see the fan and led connectors. Am i blind? maybe, but if your engineers paid more attention there would be no problem.

Our tech news report -Evga 1070 e 1080 prendono fuoco- that, directly translated from italian means -Evga 1070 and 1080 catch fire-
The matter is not a joke, a lot of us are scared for other components inside the case, the decreased resell value and the card durability compared to other brands.

About the guide: someone stupid (enough to buy this brand) and inexperienced like me cant figure out the guides: pics are either low res, out of focus, and the two of them seem different, even the thermal pad stripe placement. I'd like to post and imgur link explaining it, but any link gets deleted on this account (btw could any mod abilitate it? I find it ridiculous i cant post and get this explained properly).
I need an unified guide and a detailed step by step video, clear and well edited. Take your time, pads wont arrive any time soon, but do a good job: nothing half a##ed like this whole vrms fiasco.
We have 420+ euros cards on our hands,  750 for 1080s, lots of us never touched a gpu outside simply installing it, imagine us sweating with a screwdriver on our hands, afraid it may slip while taking out the fan connectors: that's the scenerio for a lot, me included probably, make things clear and detailed: we still have to pay for shipping and get a second hand card if anything goes wrong.

And I'm actually surprised I have to take time to ask for a simple tutorial video, that should be the minimum after the trouble you get your custumers through, I hope you at EVGA get the point

Yes, I do understand what you are asking for.

adding to the above, I can request an order withdrawal only till november the 4th, less than two days from now
I'd like to know asap about the extended warranty refund and if you at EVGA have intention to post a good video on your youtube channel, I'm willing to keep the card and try this fix if you promise
