Today I received a Corsair STRAFE RGB MX SILENT Mechanical Keyboard so I will perform an unboxing and review of this keyboard. This post was typed with the new keyboard.

So here are the Unboxing/Connection photos:

This is the cherry red version of the Corsair silent keyboard series. You can also pick Cherry brown and there have been more colors recently added. You can program the back lighting of each key if you want to. Polling rate is 1000 hertz but you can step that down if you wish. This is an RGB keyboard so you can program all types of multi-colored patterns. There is a USB port on the back which you can use for a USB mouse or maybe a USB stick. The keyboard software is available for download free on the Corsair website and is not included in the box. I like the fact that the software is not in the box because when you download the software you know you'll be receiving the newest version. Each key is rated for 50 million presses. Corsair has an exclusive deal so that only they can sell these silent switches for the 1st 6 months. What I also like is that the Corsair 'Sail' icon at the upper left also lights up. I tried playing around with the colors but for some reason I keep coming back to the default RED and I think I understand why Corsair picked RED as the default. 100 percent anti-ghosting. 100 percent mechanical.

OK that is an overview of the specs but what about the idea about which the design was intended? This is a silent keyboard for sure. I asked my wife to listen because one of her complaints late at night is the 'click-click' sound of my previous keyboard. My wife told me the noise was far less than on the normal Corsair keyboards I've used. So for those of you who have nagging wives bugging you about the clicking of the keys while typing this keyboard is for you. No matter what keyboard you choose from there always has to be a little bit of feedback from the keys so that you know a key press has taken place. There is some noise but I feel this is an interesting compromise between real world usage and complete silence. My previous keyboard was also a Corsair keyboard and one of the best I've typed on but this one has an equally great tactile feel but it is much much quieter.

I've been typing with it for a while and this has a very high quality feel to each keystroke and no jittery feel that you sometimes have when a key returns to its default position. There is no rattle with any of the keys I've tried. There is a Windows lock key which can prevent you from pressing the Windows key while gaming.

If you want a full size keyboard there are larger models sold by Corsair but I have no complaints about the sizes of the keys used here. If you want or desire additional macros choose a Corsair K70 or K95.

I give my reviews anywhere from 1 to 5 stars. This is a five star rating and a top recommendation. Yes, you can find cheaper keyboards if you're on a budget but if you're a serious gamer Corsair is my pick and it should be yours as well.

Awesome. I have the Gskill board, and I like it, but I am looking for something with less macro keys since I tend to hit M1 rather than escape. I am used to them being lower on the side of the board.

The lack of the keys being there would be helpful lol.

Strafe is cool and nice keyboard.
    What you had before Strafe?
From CORSAIR my favorite is K65. If I need to choose keyboard again I would choose Francium Pro again, typing of this heavy PBT keys simply no cheap sound as many keyboards or second choice for non LED keyboard is without doubt Filco Majestouch 2 TKL. But they need investment of at least double shoot or PBT keycaps. Filco Double Shoot keys look great, but they are ABS as well.
I would like only to Deck give one plastic cover for dust for keyboard, nothing else, really no other complains.
Filco is classic and if someone no problem to have keyboard completely without lights should try Filco Majestouch 2.
Or Filco Manila 67 is ultimate laptop keyboard.

OK everyone, here are some still pictures of three imported profiles. Corsair has more than 200 profiles available for this keyboard. Here are three themes I imported:

This is a Star Trek Federation theme:

    This is Tim's lighting theme:

    This is St. Patrick's Day:

If anybody wants to see more just ask or if you have a specific theme you'd like me to display let me know which one you'd like to see.

I like how they done LED Lights. For RGB keyboards need to be used ABS keycaps.
Simply no such strong LED to nicely show through double shoot PBT keycaps. It could be done but customers will not have so nice impression of LED lights.
Because of that customers should decide on beginning, PBT or LED RGB. Or to buy two keyboards.
For PBT max you can get is one color.
This Strafe have nice LED effect around keys. Better even than K70 example.
Probably that white back help, similar as on CODE keyboards.
That's nice if someone like, I'm more for classic without LEDs, PBT.
But somehow I like Logitech 610, I don't know why, maybe because I had good experience with Logitech and I know what I could expect exactly except if they failed completely, I didn't met some fail or hear for some serious fail from Logitech that many people report same issue and completely avoid some Logitech products. Only good and excellent.

Will this do a dark amber RJ? And how does the switch feedback feel compared to the old IBM keyboards?

You can use any color within the color palette provided by Corsair which means about 18.5 million colors. I can tell you that having used Dell, Logitech, Razor, and IBM among others I would say this keyboard has the best tactile feel not just for gaming but for overall typing. The feedback on each key is outstanding. Of course this is only my opinion but having used keyboards for so many years I believe that I have a lot of experience.
