I know you guys are knowledgeable about this. I'd like to setup Boinc to allow crunching on 1 GPU and Fold on the other. I have my gpus setup manually in Folding and can pause one. But the arcana that is xml is confusing and I'm hoping one of you can help me out.

    You'll want to create a cc_config.xml file using a text editor, like Notepad. Place this file in your BOINC data directory. This is C:\ProgramData\BOINC\ for Win7 and up.

    <cc_config>
    <options>
    <ignore_nvidia_dev>0</ignore_nvidia_dev>
    </options>
    </cc_config>

    This should make BOINC ignore your first Nvidia GPU. Change 0 to 1 to ignore the 2nd GPU, etc. There's an <ignore_ati_dev> if your GPUs are AMD instead.

    More about cc_config.xml can be found here: https://boinc.berkeley.ed..ki/Client_configuration

    Quick question, am I going by the GPUz program for GPU number?
    Or is there another say to tell which GPU I'm excluding?

    Folding Client will reset and crash, I have tried this many times.
    Even if you set the Folding Client to use (ID 1) it can change after each task run.
    While you have selected (1) it will take over and run on 0 and go back and forth as well.
    This is why I run Only GPU Folding and Only CPU on BOINC.
    Best of luck.

    I'll just have to experiment for a few days. I've been pretty consistent keeping my slots configuration set manually by using the lspci command. It at least pauses them correctly (verified by GPUz and precision X). Have not tested with one slot empty though. That's a day long test at best (not much free time for that with infant in hand).

    The configuration file seems easy enough at first glance. I can turn on my Intel GPU and use that at least while I test the waters of boinc and Fah.

    Well as G.L.A.D.O.S said. There's experiments to run. So I'll make a neat gun. For the people that are still alive.

    BOINC will tell you which GPU is which in the Event log when the client first boots up. That listing is what you use in the cc_config.xml file. But as mentioned, the FAH client may not play nice with how you are setting it up.

    Tried the config and couldn't quite get it right, so I added Intel GPU for Seti.

    So far my temps are pretty good.
    CPU temps are about 50-51 C and all cores rocking 3.6Ghz boost
    GPU temps are 75 C for 970 in low Slot, 82 C on the 1080 in top slot with 1080 Backplate at 58 C.

    That is with 5 threads going full tilt
    2 for Folding, 2 for Crunching and the Intel GPU thread only pulls 2% CPU time on average.

    If only my DH15 could be mounted sideways to blow on GPU backplate.
    Maybe I can mod my panel with a fan later on or just pick up a Hybrid kit for the FTW.
