So as a lot of you know I have been having a lot of issues these past four months with my computer. I finally got things put together and seemingly working with each other. I went to play some Rocket League and my computer freaks out just as the main screen for the game pops up. By freaks out, one sound will skip fast constantly, so a button press sound will continually play but as quick skipping. Like if the sound is beep when the computer freaks the sound goes bebebebebebebebebebebebe. I know great description me. My monitors will usually go white or a white and pink colour and I will hear the windows exclamation sound play. I then have to turn off my computer and restart it. At first I thought this was just Rocket League and Steam but I have tried the other game I have Diablo 3 on Battlenet and although I actually got to play the game for a few minutes I got the same computer freak out. I have never experienced a crash like this with any computer I have ever had so this is new to me. Could this be a sound issue? I am only using the on board sound and not an add on one. I have removed the game launchers and two games I have and reinstalled them and still the same results. If only I could afford to replace this whole system already, too many headaches recently this this old dog. System specs: Intel i7-2600k 16gb Ripjaws Asus P8Z68-v le (swapped out for a bad EVGA Z68 board 3 days ago) 2x EVGA GTX 560ti (not in sli as this motherboard does not support it) Windows 7 Pro 64bit

What power supply do you have?
Since you have two 560ti's and you are not utilizing SLI, could you remove one and make sure the power supply isn't running out of power? With two cards, it may be just enough stress on the psu to cause a fault without fully shutting down the PC.

I actually may have figured it out. It seems to definitely have been a sound issue. I went in to the sound options and found 10 versions of hd monitors, disabled all of them. Went back into NVIDIA panel and found the HDMI sound was still on even though it definitely was turned off when I first got the computer running again. Now I seem to have no issues in any of the games. I am going to leave Rocket League on while I go do some running around and then try playing again when I get back.

Did you mass install the driver with the express feature?
If so, when you install drivers, use the custom feature. If you are running speakers that are not running through HDMI, do not install the Nvidia audio driver. Just install the sound drivers from the motherboard manufacturer.

I did not know about the Nvidia audio driver thing. From now on I will remember not to install it.

As long as you set your sound card as the primary device (open Sound application), it will use it instead of the HDMI sound. Upon installing a fresh install of the NVIDIA drivers, it may set the HDMI audio as the default audio device. It happened to me once. However, with both drivers installed, it shouldn't cause issues with one another.

So the white screens happened again today, twice. This one I was just listening to music and surfing the wwi's. I have removed all extra audio devices in device manager, Nvidia control panel and under the sound control panel. I still believe it is based on sounds as it seems to only happen during any kind of audio playback. Just for the heck of it I went back into device manager and found another area under system devices that shows 3 high definition audio controller and multiples of other devices, mostly acpi fans and intel 6 series chipset. This is very frustrating. Any thing I may be missing? Maybe I need a whole new approach to this whole thing and my problem is something else entirely?

I'd recommend removing the nvidia audio driver even if you're receiving sound over hdmi. Here are my suggestions: #1 Do #2 listed here. #2 Install the latest audio driver for your motherboard. You can get it here.

I will do this now. I am actually using the onboard audio for the motherboard.

This did not work at all. I did as you said and restarted my computer after the driver install and put on amazon music and rocket league. As rocket league started up thats when I get the skipping robot sound and the one monitor goes white and the other pink. I could still hear the music and the windows messages pop up but cannot see anything. Maybe I'm mistaken and it is not an audio issue? This really sucks, I have two games to play and I cannot play either. Maybe I'll burn this old p.o.s. and just play mobile games.

Try testing each card individually with the other completely removed from the system.

Yeah when I get home from work I will get that done. May just rebuild the thing from scratch and check each card. It really is getting annoying.

I had a similar problem with my PC last year. Had similar system as you at the time, except i was running a gtx 970. Media based applications would cause my pc to lock up or crash with similar sounds you are describing. I tested everything the same as what you have done, and what others have mentioned to do. It was some part of the onboard audio controller that was bad on the mobo causing the problems. (had ASUS Z-68) Found another mobo z68 based gigabyte i believe... and everything worked as it was supposed to. Im not saying its your mobo, but i had read other forum posts about ASUS Z68 boards having similar problems. Good luck with your testing, hope you get it fixed, and let us know the outcome.

Well I retested the gpu's and it turns out one of them is actually bad. I had tested them, it was really the first thing I did. Anyway, I figured out my problem, now I have to see if I can find a really cheap evga gtx 560 ti somewhere. Although thinking about it rocket league can run on just the one so really it doesn't matter if I find another one. Thank you all for you help and sorry about my stupidity. Funny how something can work fine during a test or something then not work the next. Luckily I finally found it though.
