If you have or do not have coil whine on either your 980 or 970 can you please post your PSU and mobo model please?

I'm on my 10th evga gtx 980 acx 2.0 sc and all 10 have had the same coil whine. 4 Asus as well.. I keep every pair a few days to try and burn in then return them when there's no improvement.
I've used rampage extreme and gigabyte oc force motherboards with corsair ax1200 and ax1200i PSU units with the same results. I've even tried different locations and power providers.
I was looking to do water cooling to quiet my case down but there's no point if every card I purchase is louder than all 12 of my case fans..

I'm to the point where I can't keep returning them. I either have to deal with it, return to keplar, or wait until I am able to step up at some point. I was told that evga charges 10% on each card for defective returns from the distributor.

Thanks.

And your sure it's your GPU, 10 of them it sounds more like something else, unless you 100% sure then you definitely have a bad luck.  I've had  similar issue last year with 2 of my 780 ACX, I was positive that I had coil whine, replaced cards with reference and the same thing persisted.  That was my PSU!! so I thought I changed for new 1 and still the same thing, so it seem that the cards  where the fault but indirectly sending strange signals to my PSU it sounded like coil whine. Bottom line I never found out I sold the whole PC but obviously the cards along  where not the issue,  you should try different cards ( 700 series)  see if you experiencing the same  coil whine before making decision to return your cards again
    Good luck

So obviously the  coil wine  have some relation with your cards. Hopefully someone with similar setting and close enough hardware will help you out.
    Good luck
