Since when was coil whine something you could RMA the card for? I have noticed this in a couple threads. That just sounds ridiculous to me. The card is working as intended, is it not. It's not harming the card in any way. Yes, I have had cards that do it, but I would have to really listen for it. Right now one, or maybe both of my 1070's have substantial whine under heavy load, mostly heard in benchmarks. Never once did I consider an RMA. Because, the card works as intended.

I was offended by this as well, but now I see it as just more pressure on companies to design or invent a solution. A whining coil is, after all, simply vibrating, and it shouldn't be that hard to dampen it somehow so that it doesn't do it, or at least not audibly. Perhaps when they've lost enough money on these bogus RMAs they'll decide to actually do something to prevent it. It's simply engineering, that's it. This isn't an insoluble problem.
