Hopefully I will be trying to finish that run posted above when I get home from Christmas dinner... temps are quite high for a phase chilled chip though.

But, but, but the temps are certainly comfortable so I expect you'll get a complete run through. Have fun.

Still playing with the new CBGPCS OCZ phase unit... I'm not sure I have the evaporator seated right.  Nice to see 70 GFlops though!

i know you had to try it at least once...where we're the temps at when you ran 4/8???

hell, i think im pretty close to it now..lol

so at 4.6 that should be real close to zero temps

because he is running Real Temp GT...AKA Real Temp Gulftown. notice all that open space on the right, that is where three more core temps are suppose to be

he will want to open just RealTemp.exe from the folder, not RealTempGT.exe...i knew right away because i did the same thing at one point. combination of sleep deprivation and intrigue in what GT meant.

i am definitely interested in seeing a full run from this CBGPCS OCZ phase unit. looks good so far but i can do all kinds of crazy things on my single stage for a couple loops...definitely had to dial it back for a full 20 pass run. just stick to 4 core no HT. with HT is just too messed up.

even so...buggy or not...everyone has completed runs..whether they are happy with them or not...lol
if he has to dial back...that's fine as well...till he can get the hang of the new unit, but at the same time...it should knock out a 4.6 maybe 4.7 without to much trouble...that gflops seems to have allot to do with how your ram and uncore work together..(speculation of course)

still.30 plus degrees is a nice number to work with..

yeah, i think 4.6 or a little higher is what my unit could handle with HT enabled, temps getting to around the same 30C or so. definitely sounds like a 200W heat load that the unit can handle which is a little better than i would have expected from them to be honest.

off topic for a minute...

so the real question is....
is there an exact way to really know?
base unit is 375.00 bucks @125 watt heat removal vs 800.00 bucks @ at least 200 +watts
or
get your own and change the oil and sub convert to 200 plus watts...all for about 400 bucks, right? interesting.... (still not the phase change expert though)

so would this move them up the list from being at the bottom for using sub par equipment or oil in this case....
i know plenty of people who can do the oil mixture if that's all it is. and i get a decent phase change after all..for about 400 bucks.

I think its a bug or something, guess i need to re-download to fix it. All four temps show up in other programs such as Everest and E-LEET... so my guess would be a bug... I've been meaning to make a post about it on here but never got around to it

you need to click on the regular real temp icon..they have 3 icons you can click on.

May I suggest that this thread be made a sticky???

Anyone second that thought???

Yeah I suggested that back on page 9 but I guess the mods didn't feel the same.  I still think it needs to be.

DrNip

No sticky on this wonderful thread?  Should be.

I think the requirements should of had the Memory Tab of CPU-Z in it too.  Here's mine.

Core i7 920 BATCH# 3845B027
CPU clocked at: 4315.2 MHz
Voltage: 1.258
Idle temp: 39,40,38,36
Load temp: 81,79,77,74
RAM: 821.9 MHz @ 6-6-5-16 1T
Uncore: 3904.2 MHz

Unfortunately I have blown yet another stick of Hyper Elpida RAM now.  This is my 3rd set of RAM that has happened to me.  All 3 sets of RAM have been from different manufacturers.  All 3 sets were blown just cruising the web.  I have had more problems with this i7 build than all my builds combined.  This is on top of 2 DFI mobo failures.  Hopefully my Classy stays strong as it and my CPU are the only two things that haven't failed me.

thanks for the screens, looks good. a solid 200W heatload ballpark. something a $300-$350 custom build would get you. curious to see what the 'issues' where, but in due time...kids and that nightmare you are looking forward to of returning stuff today is more than enough work for one day

Hmm, thanks did not know it had to be LinX instead of Prime 95, however i think its pretty safe to say i did 25 runs of LinX (Did not take a screen shot however) and did 13 hours of Prime 95... but its whatever. Also if you look, it should be 4000Mhz exactly 190 x 21.... however if you look its "fluctuating" and is at 189.533 x 21 which's comes out to right below 4Ghz at... 3980.0Mhz

hellshealer

im confused why have you only got 3 temps instead of 4 in your real temp? is there a bug or a dodgey chip??

because he is running Real Temp GT...AKA Real Temp Gulftown. notice all that open space on the right, that is where three more core temps are suppose to be

he will want to open just RealTemp.exe from the folder, not RealTempGT.exe...i knew right away because i did the same thing at one point. combination of sleep deprivation and intrigue in what GT meant.

I appreciate it hellshealer... haha when i installed it and opened it up i was, like you very tired, and thought hmmm GT... must be better or more advanced or something like that... so opened that instead, glad to know!

HT on... 8 threads... CBGPCS modified OCZ Phase Cooler... 4.823ghz... 62 GFlops.

Xeon W3570   Batch #:
CPU clocked at: 4823 mhz
Voltage: 1.575v w/Vdroop
Idle temps: -6/-6/-6/-6 this is as low as Real Temp can read
Load temps: 53/46/49/40

I had to work real hard to get this... I was getting irql_not_less_or_equal and page fault blue screens.  It was only when I lowered my QPI VTT down to 1.425v that things began to work.  I'm doing another run with a slightly higher clock using a lower QPI/higher multiplier with less voltage that looked like it would finish...  I will find out after I post this as it should be almost done... or a bsod... lol.  I will know shortly.

If you want to know what the problem with the CBGPCS OCZ phase unit is go to this thread for the discussion on it... please do not clutter up this thread:

Look for this same series of screen shots and my explanation or the problem.

Yeah my last few days of benching before my leave of absence I experimented with lower vcore and was able to achieve higher BCLK benching results.  I was using 1.525 or so vcore and lowered it to 1.45v and was amazed at the higher results I achieved.  Nice job though!

Well that phase may put you on top for a while.lol Good job.  Yes I have noticed at higher clocks chip seems to picky that ALL voltages be more precise or you will get BSOD's but they are because voltages are too high.

Ok , so I now have to admit that I have minimal knowledge about posting pics and what not. I have taken my screenshot - now how do I post it? I'm assuming the image has to hosted and then the link inserted. Is this correct? Anyone have a link to run me through how to do this?

I think i figured it out. Anyways , my temps as shown in the screenie are with the side of my case on. About halfway through , I decided to take the side off and my temps dropped about 4*c - 6*C. I also usually have Speedstep and C1E enabled which drops my temps even further. Hope this is all you need for validation. I haven't really pushed this chip yet and I hate to say it but I didn't really have to work for this clock. I may try higher later. I just don't really need it. This chip was just a lucky shot as I have actually seen that this batch isn't really that great!
