This is very interesting. I am not sure how man people will download it though. You have 4 posts and flashing a bios from an unknown source isn't something a lot of people do.

It is very nice to see people contributing though.

I opened a support ticket on EVGA and these were the responses:

    Question Date: 02/03/2011
Q: Good night. The mainboard does not change the uncore multiplier, is locked in 20x.
    Answer Date: 02/04/2011
A: hello, I apologize for the issue, what BIOS revision are you running? I would advise doing a BIOS update, then retest the multiplier. If you have further issues please feel free to email us back or call support anytime 24/7. Thanks EVGA Tech Support

    Question Date: 02/04/2011
Q: I tested it with version 77 and 78, I see that in the Classified SR-2 the problem was solved with a bios update The Following has-been updated in A50: Below adjustability Uncore Improves 20X multiplier
    Answer Date: 02/04/2011
A: Sebastian, Your CPU does not have an unlocked multiplier, no BIOS update will change this physical limiation of the Xeon x5650. The BIOS update your referring to was for the 980x, which has an unlocked multipler. Regards, EVGA

    Question Date: 02/04/2011
Q: I do not mean the core multiplier, if not the Uncore multiplier, in my Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7 I can change the Uncore multiplier from 20 to 15, after the update cpu microcode http://forums.evga.com...x?m=630168&mpage=1
    Answer Date: 02/05/2011
A: Hello, Does it give you an option to change the uncore. Or is it not saving the option at lower values. Can you give us more details? Thank you, EVGA

    Question Date: 02/05/2011
Q: I can change the values, but have no effect. if I set 15x the Uncore remaining at 20x, has no set lower values. the UNCORE multiplier is locked at 20x, no matter what frequency you put on your bios it always show 20x on CPU-Tweaker and CPU-Z
    Answer Date: 02/05/2011
A: Sebastian, Please refer to this forum thread: http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=652355 Regards, EVGA

I decided to update the CPU microcode myself.

Hmm...  then maybe they should collaborate and get the new BIOS to work?

If they could, perhaps they could then send it to eVGA so that an official release would be forthcoming sooner rather than later.

Like someone asked ss that the ROM update dejahn has been working on? Cause it seems its Intel's ROM. The current BIOS doesn't have Intel's but Phoenix ROM.

Yeah, I can confirm that it works on the E759.  I am really curious to collaborate with you and see if we can come up with something in regards to the RAID ROM, conflicts caused by the PXE ROM, etc.

This just goes to show how lame EVGA are being with all there resources (or lack of them) if 2 great minded forum users are solving some of the issues on there own.

Part of me wants to say STOP to these 2 guys just to see if EVGA wake up and sort it.

Who knows how EVGA are working ATM....maybe they are hoping that forum members fix the issues for them so they do not have to invest in employing someone to fix them for us !!!!

sromerod's modded BIOS should make no difference whatsoever for your system, because you're using the Intel RAID controller, not the AHCI controller. He only added a newer AHCI ROM and updated CPU microcode.

Actually the Intel RAID controller defaults to AHCI when using non-RAIDed drives with it.  Without the AHCI controller the RAID does not function either.  This is why I removed the AHCI option from the BIOS all-together but still kept the AHCI and RAID ROMs.  They work in conjunction (I removed the AHCI ROM before and RAID would not work either).

For compatibility Intel AHCI ROM is still better than Phoenix AHCI ROM.
