refrain from engaging in posts in this thread to discourage folders or members from participating or ranting about past contests.The goal is to grow the folding @ home community and get beyond the problems of past contests and have a fun time while delivering science and possible cures for mankind

I'd either edit or drop this particular note as it seems to assume that people would "want" to discourage other Folders and sets a negative tone itself.  It just doesn't sit well with me and sounds rather presumptuous.  Just because someone has a beef with a contest (past or present) doesn't mean that they have intent to "discourage" Folding or others.

I actually suggested this.... However I agree and left it out. I do think some kind of request to keep it positive is in order however. As a part of the "Spirit" of the contest. I even did something like that in this very thread in post #1...

Like "Herding Cats" and wouldn't work anyway...at least never has in the years I've been around here (or most forums for that matter).  For people that want to really bust out and cause a problem (in any thread), that's what we have you for AB!  I just don't think we have to tell people how to behave and most will be good anyway.  So, I favor celebrating the positive side of people and still allowing for a concern (constructive criticism) to be raised should one develop. 
 
Maybe start a "CC 2014 Open Discussion" thread and point people there if they want to discuss how to make CC better for 2014 as we go along.  There will be issues with any contest and we can embrace them, discuss them, argue points without anyone being considered a "ranter", "dissenter" or some other negative form of label that we could stick on people.  Thank-you for considering my suggestion and adjusting the text of the opening invitation.

I am going to lock this one... And ask all start using the new one now that it is clear we are participating and it seems appropriate to only have one of these going at a time.

Hmmm... okay, that answers that.  I remember now the chimp names are gone.  All of the folding is going to the contest?  Regardless of whether or not someone signs up?  Or are we collecting names that will go into a stats collection for the team.

the whole team goes into it
 
We had discussed signups- but that would mean lots of extra work to run stats
total team numbers makes it real easy to do
 
it also made it easier if teams want to join/team up

We can run a individual team signups - if we want to give prizes or badges out
some teams don't have prizes or badges
 
just make it that members if they want to donate a prize (sign in the donation) or sign up to have a chance to win a prize
In past years we had people posting Pics of rigs folding to qualify for prizes
 
now we just have to check they have folded in the stats or go by those that signed up for a chance to win

it was moved to a cooler month - It says APRIL at the start of the OFFICIAL thread
rather than MAY where it's about 10c-20c warmer (like almost summer temps)
 
And we started discussion- or at least tried starting in Feb
 
 

alright that makes sense, I like that we don't have to change to chimp names this year either, so I'm already good to go.

Preliminary results indicate this year's formula may, as suspected, be hopelessly broken.  Luckily, we are one of the teams it favors this year.
