I really hope we can get a large percentage of the team to fold for the Apes this year. It's a fun competition for a good cause. Can't we just add a passkey to the current EVGApes. On that note, anybody care to guess this years goal. I think 40 million will be good.

My Fermi will be the Chimp's for the challenge! (assuming they are out by then...) Was sad that we did not win last year. As Rcran said, we were overconfident last year, but with a more coordinated effort this year we can definitely take the Chimp.

I've never been on a team that was included in the chimp challenge before. For those of you that were in last year's contest, what kind of things could the team do better this time around? Get more of the active team members folding under the EVGApe name? Get them folding from the start instead of delaying? Get more of the inactive team members folding for the challenge? Get more new folders? All of the above, obviously, would help, but which do you think are the most important, or are there other things to be done to "get organized"?

I talked a little to l334h7l about what might have been our problem out of the gate. He was of the opinion, and I tend to agree, that folks were slow to convert over to the EVGApes name. Perhaps because they were trying to get their points for the promotion, perhaps because they didn't think it was important to switch over until after the CC began. But if you wait until after the CC begins, it takes that much longer for you to complete the unit you are on , and then start the unit going to EVGApes. It will be important to switch over the -bigadv, and smp units about 2 to 3 days before the CC, and the gpu units the night before. Once we got ourselves organized after the challenge began, we held out own, but we were very slow to get everyone converted over.

OK.. I'm in. I started folding at the end of May last year and missed last years contest. The timing of the start of this is critical as i'll be on vaca out of the country from April 30th until the 8th of May. I'll keep checking here.

Last years challenge lasted way too long, imo. I am not saying less points than last year, but NO More than Last Year. 20 million is plenty. Also none of the other teams from the challenge reused their old name, and I think we should start over too. Right now 20 + million lands both in the top 10 folders on our team for a short while, but 50+ million will be in the top 10 for a long time. I would rather see an active folder in that position. Just my 2 cents.

Just remember the current teams the PPD they produce sky rocket for the Challenge unlike EVGA there are several people that do not fold year round and for the chimp challenge all of a sudden they are doing 500k+ PPD instead of 1k. In addition there are some IT guys out there that talk the companies they work for into allowing them to use monster blade servers donating them for the competition. So don't bet on anything being normal if this is your first year with the team. Not to condone the use of large company servers but if you do have access to some PCs or Blades laying around or even family talk to them every point counts :) Just remember using a PC for folding without asking is morally wrong and can be illegal so clear it with whom ever the owner is. If it is your work or friend/family the electricity and bandwidth used to do this could be considered stealing and you could possibly lose your job or taken to court, so as they say CYA! We don't want to blemish the challenge or EVGAs reputation as you are representing this community.

I was in last year. I expect to be in this year. Thanks for the email l337h4l. I'm not on the forums a lot and the notification let me know the discussion was starting up. I think the passkey is a good idea - I'll check here from time-to-time to see what we need to do. I think PMing to active team members would be a good idea. Last year we were slow to start due to the switchover. I think another factor was that we were pretty confident in our regular team. We had some very active people who were on board and thought that would be enough. If I remember this correctly, a few days in some team members began contacting ALL our folding community with emails about switching over, but it was too late to catch up. If we have a similar effort this year, we'll probably need to start a week or two in advance.

Expect me to be returning to the fold very soon. I'll definitely be participating in CC10. I'll try to make sure to have the stats badges updated with the new CC names and whatnot as well. =)

Pardon me for asking, but why is a separate forum needed for the CC when it can be freely discussed here? Also, is someone going to come up with a new user name to replace last years'?

rcranfield So we are going to pick another name to fold under? That seemed to be the direction earlier in the thread. I don't really care which way it's done, but I want to know the name so I can get a passkey primed before the contest. I'm planning on using my own passkey just so I can be sure the credit is going to the right place.
