mmillion

I would like the passkey also.  mike.million@yahoo.com     thanks

It has been  stated correctly a few times and incorrectly a few times.  But if you "control c" out of the folding client (completely shut it down) and then you change your password and name, then restart and complete that wu, it will be credited the the ape not you.

You can be at 99% and if you stop the client and then restart it, with a new name and passkey, it will be credited to that new account. If you change you account over early and the client completes for evga apes 10 minutes before the contest starts, then it will count for the ape, but will not count for the contest.

So it you need the points for the evga promotion, just make sure you get credit for all the ones that won't help us win this contest.

It has been clearly stated by the Chimp Challenge Captains that you are not to pause WUs and restart them at the beginning of the competition.

That certainly seems appropriate.

Unfortunately our captain hasn't posted in this forum since April 17 and may be stuck in Europe due to the volcano.  Do you have a link to anything that might be considered an agreed-to list of "rules"?  All I have seen so far is the starting time and number of points needed to complete the challenge.

It was decided on in the CC captains forum (which I can not link), but I can give you this:

Challenge Infractions:
No pausing of WU prior to start time.
No sabotage of WU Bonus using another teams name - it only hurts the project.
No helping other teams win after your team has finished.

So far only Harlam (Captain of overclockers. com) has posted the rules
http://www.overclockers.c...howthread.php?t=641531

While I agree on the not stopping clients for a few minutes to dump them after the deadline, I think you misread mmillions post.
What he was trying to say is that by shutting down a client in the middle of a wu, doing a configonly and changing the username/passkey the restarting, the wu will be credited to the new username. I´ve seen this whilst priming the passkey

Ah, now that I re-read the post, I see what it was saying, though sounded as if you were trying to dump all the points at once. My bad.

I have posted the official rules on OCN. Free free to refer to that for links to the other team's forums and stat pages: http://www.overclock.net/overclock-net-folding-home-team/720777-ocn-official-cc-rules.html

That doesn't have any rules such as mortimersnerd listed - it's just the criteria for the contest.  The actual rules need to be posted in public in places such as that thread for them to be effective.  Mr. Snerd, I hope you will take this comment back to the secret captain's forum.

Edit: I see you just posted a link to a thread with rules, thanks - but you forgot the one about sabotaging the bonus (which might be clarified by including mention of the passkey)

k I talked to the It head, Looks good for now, but he had no Idea what folding was...Leave it to a technical school teacher to not know the simplest of things.

Anyway, he said that he had to clear it at one level above him, and after that he would be able to get at least the I7 machines with the 260's going, but he doesnt know about the other ones.

This all depends on who ever the higher up guy is, but they sure seemed to like to jump at the idea to kinda get ranken's name out there.

s7icky, you know that's a great idea, but I'm  not sure the c2qs will complete anything if they are just running during the day that would qualify for bonus points.

doubtful that you would get any bonus points just running through the day on a c2q. The standard smp would be a better choice, It would take a couple days to get the WU's done, but we appreciate any and all contributions. You will not need the passkey if you run the smp. Just put in team 111065 and username EVGApes and you are good to go. Thanks for your help. Hope to see you here more often.
Just out of curiosity, where do you go to school that has 40+ c2q computers? Is that a high school computer lab?

I have chosen to leave that one out as to not give anyone some malicious ideas. Anyone doing so will know that it is wrong, I do not believe we need to bring that to the attention to everyone. On the other hand, based on some very rough calculations, it will take somewhere around 1000 bad WUs/day for EVGA or OCN to go below the 80% mark. I don't see this as a realistic threat.

Fair enough, that makes sense.  Plus, such a person if discovered would have poo flung at him from all teams.

Speaking of which, your chimp better duck - poo is being flung from directly below him

I really hope this doesn't happen, I would hate for stanford to receive bad WU's all because someone is a poor sport. That would really bring the moral of this competition down.

Hopefully everyone can keep their noses clean from any sabotage.

I can also vouch for the Sticky. He is my long time Canadian friend. Thanks for folding during the CC.

Stick, If you are going to fold -smp a3 units you should get a passkey for bonus points. There is a thread somewhere with a list of people to PM for the key. If those guys don't mind I can send it to you.

Woot!  Finally back at full strength.  After 2 months I got a working PSU from BFG and found my dremel to cut the stripped screws off of my GX2.  New thermal paste and we're running nice and cool again!  Just switched clients to EVGApes. GAME ON!
