welcome to the team! You still have plenty of time to work out the kinks. No official start time has been announced yet, but you can expect it to be on or around the 5th of may. On a side note: If you want to take part in EVGA´s folding promotion , your folding and forum name have to match. You have to options: either restart and change your folding name, or pm Shane to have your login/forum name changed Happy folding

thanks for the info i have sent the PM will see if not i will change my name on folding (don't really want to had it long before i had a evga account as you can tell i am not much of a forum person i spend my time in games) the reason for my new push for folding is i was hit with Tonsil Cancer (Lymphoma of the Tonsil) it was a easy fix just take out the tonsils But i went from 100% heath to sleeping 16-18hrs a day in a 2day time frame over 3days it grew from nothing to the size of a golf ball now think about that, i had a growth the size of a golf ball stuck in my throat. keep in mind i am a 24yr collage student i make under 25k a year and i have NO heath coverage so i now have to pay about 50k in school bills +about 35k for this damn thing. that made it quite hard to eat let alone breath (if anyone want to know i make that 25-30k JUST building computers and selling them really high-end systems with TONS of custom hand built cases the last 2 systems i sold hit 48,997 in vantage and was rock stable i have a mini home built CnC setup i use to make my own cases much like my folding farm. the website for the farm will be up soon just waiting on on my buddy (he much better at php/mysql then me)

Wow, sorry to hear about that, but good to hear you have recovered. I fully understand that you want to keep an already existing folding name, I just saw that your names didn´t match. So I thought I´d let you know, seeing that you didn´t have a mass of points already accumulated.

22 evga duel PCB GTX295's i got them a few DAYS after they came out, over a 2 week time frame. They had been split up in 2 11 systems for quad sli gaming for sometime (over 3 months) my CUZ system i built and OCd my self was in the top 10 gtx295 rigs in modrigs rock solid stable pure air hitting 46k in vantage oddly he never uses sli for gaming as he only plays old starwars games lawl the rest got split up to the rich uncles and cuz's at stock settings after load testing do to some inside hook-ups all the cards got swap for solo 480's and they still seam happy (they don't really use them much more or less just a flashy thing to show off that's all it really is to them) as most can guess 9 480's is cheaper then 22 GTX295's i payed for 3 of the 480's the rest my uncles payed for i got all the 295's back (i always get the fall back this is rule #1 aka family law they all get free in home tech support in exchange) i have 19 computers in my house i tore up all but 1 i7 rig(main gaming pc) to build my farm.the main reason was most of them have only been ran like 5 times

So I went thru and read some posts here and there in this thread and here is a few things to keep in mind that I didn't see a answer on. 1st the passkey is needed for big adv WU's 2nd the big adv WU's should already have the 10 needed done before the chimp challenge begins. 3rd "everyone" who is folding under evgapes name for CC will need the pass key not just the big adv folders. if everyone doesn't have the key their folding points will not count toward the CC evgapes name. there should only be 1 pass key for the entire team! I am not sure if this is already a work in progress or if the big adv wu's have been done already under the evgapes name with a passkey. I am just poinitng out some things that can make for less issues in the long run. Last thing is, I can not prove it but a bird in my ear (can't give source) told me the bonus points for big adv wu's will no longer be in effect by the time the chimp challenge starts, so be prepared for that also. either way the 10 wu's should be done ahead of time, just incase they are giving bonus points. I am very sure the bonus points are comming to a end on big adv wu's though from my source.

pgmoney So I went thru and read some posts here and there in this thread and here is a few things to keep in mind that I didn't see a answer on. 1st the passkey is needed for big adv WU's Yes, and for regular SMP WU's also (A3 from -advmethods) 2nd the big adv WU's should already have the 10 needed done before the chimp challenge begins. Already done by one of the EVGA team members, but not with bigadv because that's not a requirement. 3rd "everyone" who is folding under evgapes name for CC will need the pass key not just the big adv folders. if everyone doesn't have the key their folding points will not count toward the CC evgapes name. there should only be 1 pass key for the entire team! No, unless someone is going to use the passkey to track CC points on Stanford's site, the only people that need a passkey are those doing SMP (A2 or A3) and it does not have to be the same one for everyone. As long as a passkey/username combo has been prequalified with 10 SMP WUs and the 80% completion rate is met, they will get bonus points. I sure hope they don't get rid of the bonus points for bigadv. A more likely explanation for the rumor is that all bigadv's will move to the A3 core. That has been Stanford's plan for a while. However, I'd be surprised if they got rid of bonus points for all SMP work.

maybe i misunderstand this but the pass key is supposed to keep others from folding under your name. correct me if i am wrong but i know for example in past contests if a person had a passkey you couldn't fold under theirname and they get credit for it. http://folding.stanford.edu/English/FAQ-passkey What is a passkey? The passkey, a new feature beginning with the v6 FAH client, is a unique identifier that ties your contributions directly to you (not just those with your username). The use of a passkey prevents others from cheating in your name. Obtain a passkey from our web site (see below), enter it when you configure the client, and the client and servers will do the rest. You should keep your passkey secret. What is the purpose of a passkey? Previously we have not had unique identifiers in Folding@home (usernames for example can be shared by many people). One main benefit of passkeys is that if someone cheats, we will not need to zero out the points of everyone with that username -- only the offending party and those without passkeys. Perhaps more interestingly, we plan to institute points bonuses, which will be tied to passkeys. Finally, the existence of passkeys opens up future possibility of displaying your individual credit and other information, rather than just by username.

A passkey won't stop someone from folding under your name, but it can stop Stanford from taking points away from your name if someone does something against the licensing terms while using your name without your passkey. I understand some other companies have promotions where you need a username and passkey, but the CC has not required the passkey in the past. If they did require it, we could provide it to a trusted third party, but I wouldn't be comfortable giving someone outside the team our passkey until the contest was over.

Looks like you guys have been getting geared up for a while. :) Who is the Team Captain for EVGA this year? It looks like l337h4l is taking on the role. I just want to open the lines of communication so all the Captains can get together in one central location to hash out the rules for this years CC. As l337h4l already pointed out, we don't have a confirmed start date, nor do we have any other rules set. Thanks! -H

I see at OCN some are already switching over to their CC username, but I'm not sure what the point of that would be this early. They have cash and other prizes too - but we already have our EVGA bucks. It also mentions the contest may be running 1-2 weeks, which is longer than I expected.

i want to be included in the chimp challenge. i dont really avg many ppd (~2200), but i would like to contribute for evga. so basically i would have to change my f@h username to EVGApes? that would kill all the points i've accumulated so far right? (which is ok, as long as i'm contributing toward the contest). what about the passkey? does everyone get one when the CC begins? I'm still not as clear as i feel i should be on this, even after reading through all the posts. and has a start date been confirmed as of yet?

Yes, you´ll change your folding name to EVGApes. All you´ll "loose " is the time your folding for the big one. What you have folded until then under your name will stay and you can pick up from there after we´re done. You only need the passkey if you´re intending to run the win smp or the bigadv (for the bonuses). If you need it let me know No starting date has been announced yet, but expect it to be on or around the 5th of may.

Good deal. What exactly is the "win smp" & "bigadv"? I know they're switches, but I don't know how to apply them or what their purpose is. I use both the CPU and the GPU client.
