rklapp If I understand this correctly, to join, we switch team to EVGApes instead of EVGA. Does this somehow divert points away from the EVGA promotion? The difference from last year is that we need to accomplish 100,000 points per month to meet the goal instead of 1,000,000 points per year. Yes and No.... You can keep the team set to EVGA - Team # 111065, but would have to change your F@H User Name to EVGApes (or other name selected for CC). This would interfere with your folding totals for making the monthly requirement for the EVGA promotion. However, as stated by Barbarossa above, the guys at EVGA will see what they can do about it. Hopefully they have a plan in place well before the CC starts so we can all have things straight before it starts.

With us, it is more like these are the sacrifices you make. Sort of a "Choose Your Own Adventure" kind of thing. Either you are folding for the team to try to help win the challenge and lose out on your own production and maybe lose out on some kind of prize, or you just keep doing your own thing and maybe get a better chance to win something for yourself than the next guy, but the team challenge loses out on your points. No wrong choices here, but you don't really get the best of both worlds. Kinda like real life :) See you all in the Challenge :D FOLD ON!

I have the EVGApes passkey just seeing if we need to actually pass it around or if you can all use your own passkey with EVGApes user name and get the bonus... And as for the question before of why bother signing up for the other site it is because trying to pm everyone involved here takes days when I can do it in 3 clicks on the other site. The http://evga.tachedout.com site is only for fast quick communication especially if it is urgent. such as someones client has the wrong team number or username is spelled wrong ect. http://foldingforum.org/v...c.php?f=58&t=13068 i read this that once a passkey is prime you can use it on any username/client/machine by 7im » Mon Jan 25, 2010 8:49 pm To restate same and answer the opening question, qualification is tied to the passkey alone. Once a passkey is qualifed, you could use it on a new machine with a new client, with any user name, on any team, and the first work unit that was eligible for a bonus that is returned before the deadline would receive a bonus.

Read a few posts down in the same thread - another post by 7im: Correction: The bonus qualification is tied to BOTH the fah user name AND the passkey as a combination. If you fold with different user names, but the same passkey, each user name will need to complete the 10 WUs, etc. Also, A1 work units do not count. I received clarification on these issues today. Sorry.

so if someone is useing their own pass key it still needs to be primed I figure it would be better if we use one pass key so if people are folding -bigadv and A3s their would be no problem unless everyone is going to fold 10 units with their own key

I set my -bigadv to EVGApes. I have never folded under this username. let ya know when its complete I knew the passkey would work under any username, but was unsure what the results would be fo the bonus. I never paid attention to that. I'll know for sure now :)

Like I said before, we were arguing about different things. I was arguing that the bonus wouldn't work immediately; you were arguing that the points would work immediately, which I don't disagree with. I have done 12 A3 WU using my passkey and EVGApes Afterburners name. The first 10 did not get any bonus, the last 2 did. Edit: I mean with my passkey and Afterburners

You cant count me in for the CC10 though for sure. I know there is enough information to get me back into the swing Thanks again

This is a little late because I thought I posted a response earlier on the subject of the passkey. My suggestion is once we get one passkey primed with the 10 WU's, save it on notepad and email it as an attachment to all the people who registered on the CC website using the spam email as you called it.

I don't see a problem with the pass key for EVGApes, we'll have over 500 folders with that name and pass key, as soon as ten wu's are completed by the team, the bonus points will take effect. The one thing to think about is if we gonna do -bigadv or it may be best to do A3 WU's -smp8,with the A3's we can get the bonus about every six hours, but if we do -bigadv many of them won't be finish in time or will crash, and we won't get credit form them. Remember the Chimp Challenge only last Days and -bigadv WU's take about three days to finish, and many of them fail to finish. So i think A3 WU's is the way to go,safest imo.

I'm not sure if its "legal" for CC. But we could all start folding a bigadv about a day and a half before CC starts. That way we all turn in bigadv right when the gun goes off..Switching to a3's after that wouldn't be a bad idea.

As for the bigadv: I see that, depending on the goal and how the race is going I can see switching from bigadv to adv. The bigadv have the advantage of more bonus and total points, while the regular smp wu provide a more steady flow of points.

How long does the CC usually last? That will be a deciding factor for me as to wether I run -bigadv or the A3 WU's.

I would agree that if the CC is only going to run for a few days then A3 WU's would be the way to go but if it is a week then -bigadv would be more prouductive. At least in theory.

I´d say bigadv until the finish is on the horizon, and when you can estimate the finish time and see that the next bigadv comes in late switch to A3

The reason we lost last year, is that most people switched the clients late to EVGApes, and many didn't even do it. This year i hope, we get it together, in time for the CC, i say we should start folding for EVGApes one week before the start. That will give us time to work out any issues and call on more troops if needed. I was upset about the whole thing last year, and i said i wouldn't participate again, but screew it, i'll be Giving Her All She's Got Captain.

I can switch to -bigadv at any time My PPD will shoot up around 30,000ppd I would say before the contest starts everyone can arm their -bigadv up like a day or 2 before. It all depends on what your frame time is. I'm guess as a team we have about 50-100 bigadv folders that could pull this off
