Hey everyone! I just signed up for the chimp challenge. I currently use a passkey for my folding already. would i have to change it? because on the sign up it says ill have to reprime it (what does that mean?). Also the EOC id is a number right so if my usernames for folding is giadartis then my id is 549775 right? I just want to make sure i signed up correctly thanks!

You will have to reprime it to fold on EVGApes. That means you will have to fold 10 WUs with your passkey under the name EVGApes before you start to receive bonus points. Alternatively, you can use one of our pre-primed passkeys that is already set up to receive the bonus points. You can request it from one of the keyholders.

Ok so i can either request a different pass key which will contribute the points to EVGA chimps or i change my username to EVGApes and that will do the trick Lastly will me contributing to EVGA Chimps contribute to my overall evga team folding score? Thanks!

um!... you have to change username to EVGApes regardless the passkey is for those running bigadv so you can collect to bonus points for the Apes if your personal passkey is not primed for EVGApes then you need to fold 10 wu in smp (or you get one sent to you that is already primed) as for your points going to the team...yes you are correct you still use 111065 (evga) as your folding team you just don't get them for your personal points while folding for EVGApes

Ok!... I know how you feel being a noob at this... Everyone once was What I meant was you might as well do regular CPU/uniprocessor wu's (since you won't get bonus points and they would go quicker)... until it was primed (10 wu's) thats only if your are doing Bigadv if you have to reprime your passkey for the EVGApes...it would be the best best course is to get a primed passkey read the guide for more info http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Guide Client Type? After operating system, the installation guide documents are organized by client type: * CPU Uniprocessor clients (single CPU/core, i.e. classic, Console, CLI, or Systray, etc.) * SMP clients (multiple CPU/cores, i.e. duals, quads, etc.) * GPU clients (AMD and nVidia, both Console and Systray) If you need further help feel free to ask more questions we like to help anyone who wants to add to the cause (to find cures and promote science) but it's also nice when others are there to help and add a little competition too

giadartis I just want to make sure that i am contributing my folding to the team because idk if i am atm. If anyone else wants to be doubly sure the points are being recorded correctly. 1) Change your user name, team, and pass key for SMP work units. Do not use nopepad.exe to edit the file. 2) Shut down and restart the client to load the new configuration file 3) Look at the first few lines of the log file which should look something like this: --- Opening Log file [May 2 18:13:00 UTC] # Linux SMP Console Edition ################################################### ############################################################################### Folding@Home Client Version 6.29 http://folding.stanford.edu############################################################################### ############################################################################### Launch directory: /home/slythern/fah629 Executable: ./fah6 Arguments: -verbosity 9 -smp [18:13:00] - Ask before connecting: No [18:13:00] - User name: EVGApes (Team 111065)Cheers, hope this helps

In FAH GPU Tracker V2, if I just click client > smp > delete WU (and same for each of my GPU's) and then change my name & passkey for the challenge, starting all clients at that point will ensure everything goes to the EVGApes, correct? My smp is only 10% complete and is under my own username, so thought this would solve the problem.. correct?

You should set tracker to one unit on each client then change the user & passkey after it completes the WU

Just a thought.. although you change username to EVGApes, your EOC ID remains as your personal one.. so will that show what you have folded for EVGApes?

PLEASE do not delete wu's to change your username and such. From the maker of tracker himself: Just a note about how the Tracker works: Since name/team/passkey settings only matter when downloading a new WU the Tracker doesn't apply any changes to these settings until a new WU is started. It would also be 100% useless to change the configs of running clients because they will just overwrite any changes when they exit. (clients save current settings to client.cfg on exit unconditionally) Restarting the Tracker and/or clients is not necessary, since the setting will take effect for the next WU anyway. Hope this answered your question nereus!
