I guess I'll come back to folding to support the Challenge, folding be expensive but for week will be fine. Hopefully my i7 and 8800Gt can be a help, going to need passkey. I guess I should start reading about how to setup Folding@home again.

I figure I'll go ahead and toss in my computer for this. I have a 4.3ghz i7 920 and 2 GTX 295s. I can basically just follow the guides on here right? The one for multi GPUs and then multi core CPUs? Probably do that this week. What exactly will I need to do to be contributing to the EVGApes when this comes along?

But simple= just switch the gpu clients username. We would really appreciate any help you can offer.

So just to be sure, all I have to do is change my folding name to EVGApes and I am in on the challenge? I hit the mark for this month finally, so I would love to partake, even with my small ppd!

You need to at least change the username and restart the client. If you don't restart it, it will not pick up on the change. If you are doing either -advmethods or -bigadv and would like to continue to do so for the CC, you need to also change the passkey to one for EVGApes that has been set up. Yes, it starts on May 5 at noon PT. It should only last up to 5 days at most. If you are worried about not making your monthly points for EVGA Bucks, Shane has already posted that he will make exceptions for those who have been meeting their target and miss May because of folding in the CC.

I just had an Idea that struck me. I go to college at Ranken Technical College in St. Louis. Last semester we built about 50 or so machines that were brand new. ALL of them have Core i7 920's and single GTX 260's. I am sure that I can convince the department head to go for the CC on ALL of the machines, if he thought that would get the school name out there a little more. On top of that we have about 20 more machines that could be put together for the hardware class, that would have machines with anything from a C2D to a 920 i7, and as little as 9600's up to dual 4870X2's, or even triple gtx 285's. Ill talk to him tomorrow. Perhaps we can even get the whole school in on it, not just the it department. How about 200 Quad cores and about 400 dual cores getting in on the action. Other than the It department, there arent really any gpu clients, but wow that would be some points per day

Good Lord! With that horsepower you could almost with the CC by yourself. Yes, if you can get their approval we would much welcome your contribution for the CC and afterward our team. Although, if you want recognition the best way would be to just start a new team under your college name. You won't get AS much recognition as a folder under our team.

Of course this is all wishful thinking right now as I haven't even talked to him yet. But (crosses fingers) hopefully I can help out a good cause...and help evga get that goofy monkey on their site. How old of GPU's can fold, only back to 8800's, cause they have a mess of 6800's too.

Something weird to be aware of. I found someone last year folded under "EVGApes " with a space at the end. Once we all switch over it will be hard to tell this kind of mistake. We won't be able to tell our individual stats from EOC anymore. Also don't forget about the correct team number 111065. HFM will give you warnings about different user name settings and can also show team number and user name for each client.
