Does eVGA offer this as a step-up option? My 4K display is punishing my 980.

They have said no because the X is "limited".

No as crimson stated. You can see all step up options at EVGA.com/stepup

Always the possibility of going to the Ti if it is released soon enough. Rumors say it may come out in a few weeks. I read somewhere that they allowed that on the 780Ti. Maybe others could chime in. No official word on the 980Ti as it isn't even released yet. Just some potential hope for you.

Yes, the Ti was able to be stepped up to. I do t really see why Nvidia would release a 980ti at this point, but they will. Once they announce it, that doesn't auto. Stoically make the step up window open. The window, if they allow it, would open once EVGA makes an official announcement of their line up, and then there will only be one option to step up to more than likely.

That is a weeks old article. Latest rumors say possibly next month to come out ahead of the R390X. Problem is, they are all just that... rumors. We will know when they actually show up.

Are you surprised..? The game is constantly changing, so I am not surprised at all. I am interested to see real numbers and stats though.

There are many rumors floating about. I can not and will not add to those rumors. However Computex is coming from 2-6 June and it will be interesting to see if AMD decides to announce anything during the show. If AMD makes an announcement then it will be interesting to see if NVIDIA has a counter-attack.

That was my point. There are many rumors floating about. And one from weeks ago is sure to have changed as the next point indicated. There is no way of knowing. I won't get into the argument that AMD better have something soon. nVidia may be releasing early just to catch some additional market share ahead of them. They can't do much more aside from adding water to the titan X or have a WCE for the 980Ti. They may not be able to do 'better' with 28nm than AMD with the new memory. Who knows? This chip is done and we will have to wait for Pascal. I am pleased with my X purchase. I made it full well knowing what it could do, how much it cost, and that the Ti was around the corner. I waited to upgrade my GTX 780 because the 980 just didn't do it for me. I would make the same decision again knowing the Ti was coming out tomorrow. That's the thing with computers... there will always be something better right around the corner. Any buyer should make a decision, execute, and move on until there is something they just have to have again. You can always have remorse that you didn't wait another week or month or six months. It just keeps advancing. You can never have an outright 'win'. Technology won't let us. Just move with it.
