I somehow a bit oqward after hear that.

On a later note, I can't FAH to work on Linux.  Since this a P4 rig, I'm not going to bother with it much further and just enjoy exploring Linux for the first time.  Thou I am out trying to find a dirt cheap GPU to fold faster with than the 8400GS that I got free.

Dude throw some ram in, slap thos g34 CPUs in, and crank the power up. That is going to be a beast of a folding rig. Wish I could build a rig like that.

I’ve been really tryin' baby
Tryin to hold back this feeling for so long
And if you feel like I feel baby
Come on, oh come on, ooh

Let’s get it on, ow baby
Let’s get it on, let’s fold baby
Let’s get it on, sugar
Let’s get it on, woo

We’re all sensitive people with so much to give
Understand me sugar
Since we got to be, let’s fold, I love you
There’s nothin’ wrong with me foldin’ with you, baby no no
And givin’ yourself to me can never be wrong
If the fold is true, oh baby ooh

-apologies to Marvin Gaye, but it had to be said-

you definitely need lots of alone time with your rig

On one hand, I'll be leaving DarkStorm on for a bit of the contest (not much, CST, don't worry.  It's just waiting on parts before I can build and start Dragon Slayer).

On the other hand, helping Dad OC a Q9550 is worth a few laughs.

I've started to fold full throttle.  Looks like my PPD is around 32k.  I'm having an SBi7 2600 take over for my down i7 rig.  If I still had it running, I would be around 67k PPD.  I even got my PS3 folding for our team.

I've had to cut myself back a bit.. The power bill wasn't a pretty sight last month (nor was the roommate when I told him how much it was) but a single i7-870 @3.36 can net around 13-15k PPD with nothing else running lol

Finally I got the P4 scrap folding for once.  I had to install a Win7 copy but not activate it.  30 days of use should be plenty of time for it.  Then after wards, it can rest in a box up in the actitic.  No to get as much PPD out of it.

Did you know Stanford puts out 1000+ point projects for the unipro folders.  It is equal to trying to run a bigadv wu on a i7.   Wonder what the P4 PPD output will be since I disabled HT and OC to 3.2GHz.

Why do you think I run so much uniproc?

The P4 I got puts out 250PPD.  Wonder how far I can OC that processor.  Oh well, at least it is now folding at minimal.

Just came into work after a weekend with the girlfriend.  Bigadv rig is crunching away and will drop 61K around noon tomorrow.  When I get home from work today, I'll fire up the other PC to get the 560Ti SC and the AMD 965 into the fray.

Re:CST Team Thread 2011/10/24 08:59:10 (permalink)
I'm so evil to my equipment.  So the P4 rig is slow, too slow for my liking.  But wait, the mobo has a PCIe 16x slot free.  Sadly thou, my PSU that I'm using is a 360W Max rating.  Oh F it, whats the worst that could happen.  Hooked it all up, took off what I didn't need (Cd rom), and loaded the drivers.  Gave it the first test run and what would you know, the PSU is holding up.  The PSU fan is racing now because of the load, but hey, thats an extra 13k PPD.  The P4 barely supports the GPU, takes 50% or more processing power.  And with the CPU & GPU folding, the GPU load drops to 75% because the CPU can't keep up (Even with HT enabled).  So I'm going to let the CPU finish and let it devote itself to the GPU folding.

This at least gives our team a tiny edge back.  And 25% of what Crystal was capable of folding.

Screws for the GPU.  The ones that were sent with it weren't compatible from the waterblock to the original fansink.  So at this point, I have to wait till I get the screws for the fansink.

Also, I don't yet have the OS for it.

You have a point.
Now I'm undecided if I want to lol, completely agree or swat you. It's not easy being the supportive GF and on an opposing team at the same time, PST FTW followed by a Love you just doesn't blend well .

PunchyWell he's already lost all his marbles so she can't steal any of those...
Might seem that way but no he keeps them in a marble bag around his neck, so he only misplaces them once in a while. Oi I wouldn't steal them gotta keep track of my own marbles .

*mistakes Punchy for one of those kids plastic blow up punching bags again* Hmm the penguin punching bag is a bit flat where do I put this *is holding an air pump and it's nozzle* to fill it with some air?
