It would seem that as soon as this challenge started, all my SMP rigs downloaded the high hitters.  So for the time being, I turned off the Advmethod to hopefully process more WU's in the short time span.  Also, the 8400GS lost its fight.  Does not want to fold, 12 trys, 10 failed WU's, so I pulled it out the game.

The assignment server is raining on my parade.

clifford_cooleyI've not picked up a bigadv since I dropped mine yesterday. I'm hoping for one in the next few hours.
Picked up another standard SMP, Project 7507. Going at this rate I may not make my 40K PPD. The 40K was a bigadv estimate not an estimate for SMP or mixed units.  How can one estimate if they never know which units they will pickup. If this trend continues, I may need to drop my estimated PPD.

For the record, I've not had any issues picking up bigadv's in months. When I did have issues, it was a configuration error on my part trying to use only 7 threads instead of all 8.

You're not running the -advmethods flag are you?  Oftentimes, that will override the -bigadv flag and cause you to only grab normal SMP WUs.

I'm running V7 Client and the only extra slot option I have configured is "client-type=bigadv"

Bah.  What's this crap.  I keep getting regular SMP units.  I was getting bigadv up until I finished one yesterday.  Since then I haven't pulled one.  Didn't change anything to my setup either.  GRRRR.

Just -smp and -bigadv with wu size big.  -advmethods is off.  Like I said, I didn't change anything on the SMP client and had been pulling bigadv back to back for at least 2 months.  I didn't shut it down or anything, I just stopped getting bigadv for no reason.  I also check in HFM to see if I was failing units.  It says 52 complete 0 failed.

I did make a change to my GPU process to not pull 7620/7621 during the contest so it could fold 24/7.  But, I didn't touch the SMP settings.  I'm using the cmd line client from Stanford for the SMP and GPU tracker for the GPU.

If I don't get anything by the end of the day, I'll shut her down and clear the directory.  Gotta get the bigadv going for the team.

My next bigadv will drop tomorrow afternoon (another 60K-61K).

Your flags are good for the SMP client, and your not using tracker for SMP....could be you just got unlucky with a short term -bigadv shortage from one of the assignment servers. I does happen from time to time. haven't heard anyone else having this problem recently though. Good luck!

On a side note, my next big adv drops tomorrow night also.

Yeah, I'm going to give it the rest of the day to clear up.  If I don't have a bigadv by tonight after my bowling league, I'm gonna clear things out and try fresh settings.

Yes. And it will likely involve deposition of seismic charges around the New Madrid and Wabash Valley seismic zones and letting mother nature do the rest for us. Anyone?

I did a oops.  Left my GTX560 Ti on -oneunit- mode from last night.  So it missed 12 hours of folding.  Plus, since I drove a friend around town instead of heading home, another GTX 560 Ti missed 4 hours of folding.  Thats about 10k points that I missed for our team.

I have a new PSU coming by Friday to replace one that died when our power line sparked during the summer.  That will give me another bigadv rig.
We need to keep pushing anyway - those EST guys are going to get fat and lazy, plus with MST adding another million PPD there will still be a good fight for second place.

Didn't you add some special execution bits to those processors you shipped off to others a few months back? Just sayin'.
