My system:

Just bought a second GTX 680 off craigslist. When i replaced my main card with it, i had driver issues. I have reinstalled drivers and it works fine, card appears to be fine.
Cannot get sli option to show up:

Both cards are 2gb Evga GTX 680s. but something weird is happening.
2 different applications are reporting conflicting amounts of memory:

I have been working on this for 6 hours. Im about to give up and re-sell the apparently functioning 680 i just bought.
Steps taken:
-Reinstalled nvidia drivers numerous times
-updated bios
-Tried to install new motherboard drivers, but i get a page like this and dont know what to get:

I believe what you should do first is reseat the SLI bridge cable. If that doesn't work try turning the cable upside down and retry.

Recheck the card part numbers to make sure each one is a 2GB card.

Where can i check the part numbers to verify?

also, does this look right? there are 2 places to plug the bridge in.

ok. figured it out. the seller lied to me. i paid 230 bucks canadian and he said it was a 2gig card. its actually this card:

whereas i already owned this card shown below, and thought i was buying another 2gb card that can SLI with it.

are they still compatible via SLI? it would appear not....

Cards with mismatching amounts of RAM should not be SLI compatible. Generally speaking, if you're going to SLI, you need to have two cards of the same model/part number for it to work correctly. Anything else, as far as I am aware, is not supported.

All I can say at this point is, that it is not an officially supported configuration.

That is correct both memory amounts must match.

Actually, the 4GB version goes for a lot more than the 2GB version, on eBay or elsewhere. Is it worth it? Probably not. I remember paying nearly $350 a year ago for the same GTX 680 4GB FTW+ off eBay. So you did good. Either sell the 4GB or your 2GB.

    SOLVED!!!!

Confirmed that these two cards will NOT work in SLI together.  I got the seller to trade me for an identical part numbered 2gb card and it worked, piece of cake.

thanks for all the help guys
