Buying refurbished product extended warranty

Hi,
 
My motherboard went bad recently and I am planning to buy a EVGA this time. I can buy a refurbished z97 classified motherboard or a new FTW. Classified comes with 1 year of warranty vs FTW's 3 years. Is it possible to purchase extended warranty for a refurbished product? Any idea about pricing?

    Unfortunately RX, recertified, and second hand purchased products do not qualify for an extended warranty.

    I don't believe you can purchase an extended warranty for refurbished motherboards through EVGA.  If you buy a refurbished one at a retailer they may offer an extended or replacement warranty.  Hopefully that helped.

    Open box would most likely be new, somebody purchased it and returned it.
