Just wanted to let everyone know that since initiating the RMA I have been running my cards in Debug Mode via the Nvidia control panel, and even that does not fix the issue 100%, while it does keep the cards stable for much longer. They will eventually black screen/fan up even in debug mode at reference clocks.

Even in debug mode, less than 10 minutes in witcher 3 with sli leads to black screen, without sli less than 2 mins many games seem to work with debug mode on, but not witcher 3, not guild wars 2, and not elite dangerous (seems to prevent black screen a bit w/ vsync on in elite dangerous) Games that work just fine with debug mode: Shadow of Mordor Eve Online (4 clients active) Mad Max Battlefield 4 Battlefield Hardline Need for Speed 2016 and a few others ive tested.

If it's the hardware fault that EVGA identified, no there is nothing that you can do but RMA. Well, I guess you could just live with the black screen/100% fan problem if you wanted to...

m0nkjee I would just like to say, EVGA truly is the king when it comes to support and honoring their products. I doubt I would have received the kind of help and fantastic treatment from any other manufacturer. They gave me free advanced RMA for both cards and get this, I am in Canada where Advanced RMA is not even generally offered by EVGA. That's how top notch this service was!
This is why I kind of chuckle when I hear people say they're leaving EVGA for another manufacturer or thinking about coming back. Everybody's hardware will fail at some point but it is situations like this that you can't put a price on it. EVGA FTW

My bad, outside of EVGA US coverage. I'm in Asia and there's no step-up or advanced RMA over here. Same for the EU guys I believe.

I was in the market to get the 1080 FTW edition but Amazon and other retailers are full of negative reviews about this card having this same exact issue. Has this QC problem been resolved yet? I currently have 2x SLI GTX 780 6GB ACX. Looking to replace with 1080 FTW SLI.

Should be fine. I purchased both of mine in June and have not encountered the problem. EVGA has isolated the issue and fixed it. These cards are purchased the moment they are in stock so I would be surprised if there are still bad cards floating around and if you did happened to get one, it would be taken care of immediately.

He's right. I have a FTW 1080 and it works perfectly. I couldn't be happier! Micron VRAM and all. Great card. And should any issues surface - I know EVGA will take care of it.
