Hi,

I bought a EVGA 9800GT 512MB. It's on a HIC Orion 585W, and a MB Asrock 775Dual-880Pro.
The problem is that it doesn't boot. The problem might be a compatibility one...
That motherboard has a PCI-E in mode X4, I wonder if this is the reason of the boot problem.
When I boot the image flick then close. The list of video card for that board stops at the 8600GTS.
The 6 pin is connected. The Bios start on the PCI-E slot.

"Should" work, although reduced perf..Does it boot safe mode ?..Try the latest/different driver..Use Driver Sweeper.

I don't even get to windows. I don't see the dos interface at boot. It start the LCD and then fall off.
I have read some problems with Via Chipsets. Gonna update those and put the lastest BIOS update and see...

No. Nothing changed. The bios is even reseting itself when I put the 9800GT, so...which isn't the case with the 8600GT that I have. I was assured the 9800GT was working on another system, but I have no way of testing it right now. I am thinking this Asrock board is a PCI-E 1.1 instead of a 2.0...maybe...I am out of ideas.

Confirmed: it was the motherboard compatibility.

pci-e is backwards compatible, 2.0 card should work in a 1.0 slot, just slower. i know this because i am running that way now.
