Today I made a new remix, although not as long as the previous one I wanted to do something fun and I looked at my GTX 680's I was like yeah I have an idea hah a new remix! why not, also the trance I was listening to came to great use!

This is what it looked like when converting the 286GB raw avi file to Mpeg4 + AC3 sound:

About 85% CPU usage

And here the result:

Thanks mate, yeah next one I will try and make more stunts rofl, even though I made some close calls here haha, I hope a Just Cause 3 will come one day, then with DX 11.1 graphics, to get the max out of my GTX 680's, that would be very welcome

Today I have been thinking a bit and sometimes I think I should of gone for two EVGA GTX 680 FTW+ Edition 4GB's, but due to my reso of 1x 1910 x 1200, these EVGA GTX 680 SC SIg 2GB's are still doing okay.

Only the thought always remains, even upgrading to 4GB GTX 680 FTW+ Editions now or GTX 770 4GB's I just don't think it is going to be worth it, even it bugs my mind a bit.

The same for GTX 780's, yeah they have the GK110-300-A1 GPGPU but they only have 3GBVRAM even that it has a 128bit wider bus giving the 780 384Bit GDDR5 over 256Bog GDDR5, it's still 1GB less than a GTX 680 or 770 4GB.

The only card that might be worth an upgrade is the priceless GTX Titan 6GB 384Bit GDDR5 heh, but man I don't feel like doing that yet either, this means that I will have to make my move when Maxwell comes around, I guess.

But yeah I have to admit that 2GB is okay for 1920 x 1200 nowadays, but how long will that last? Always some question to which it's answer lays in the mist beyond.

I only want higher for GB's. Maybe get me some bragging rights.      ;)

I had 2GB, now I have a card with 3 GB's. My next card I want will be 4GB's. Why? Just because, that's what I want.     =)

Hmm I see, why not got for GTX Titans, they will give you 6GB

Well I just hope I didn't make the wrong choice, I kinda fail at making choices at times, some useful advice would be welcome :X

Far Cry 3 @ 4K resolution benchmarked with a TITAN. The latest games even at 4K resolution with no AA uses less than 2,000 MB/s framebuffer. 4K res has more than 3 times the pixels of a 1920x1200 display. I think you're safe with your 2GB GTX 680 in SLI! Games today require GPU horsepower and not more VRAM

Ah okay thanks mate

Well overall I am happy I made the right move back then, it's only that I see lots of people going for a 4GB model over a 2GB one, because to they use 3x 1200p or greater.

But yer if 2GB is okay, I think I will stay with my EVGA GTX 680 SC Sig 2GB's for quite some time then.
It's that I really love for what they are capable of and have done for me so far!

That's a really nice build man. Kind of an old motherboard, but I see you have both the CPU slots filled. Awesome job either way

Re:Blue-Leader SMP 2009's Kepler SLI Upgrade Complete!!!!! \o/ \o/ \o/ 2013/07/22 11:18:55 (permalink)
Many thanks :) I built this system on May 05, 2009, it's first CPU's were two Quad Core AMD OpteronDP 2380 C2 Shanghai's which gave me 8x 2.5Ghz but with Hyper Transport 1.1 and the system had two EVGA GTX 295 Red Editions in Quad SLI.

After the GTX 295 RE's it had 2-Way SLI with an EVGA & Zotac GTX 480 1.5GB's, 2x EVGA GTX 580 SC 1.5GB's and now with two EVGA GTX 680 SC Sig 2GB's. The Six-Core OpteronDP 2435 D0 Istanbuls were added in April 2012, as I grabebd a matched pair for 235 USD incl shipping & Insurance from USA to NL, and that is evry cheap for 12 cores, and that time I could not find any 1CPU that could compete with it for that money, it was a steal in otherwords.

The 2435's replaced the 2380's and my gains with rendering was about 61% boost and that for jsut 235 USD, go figure right ;)

So yeah it may be old but it has had a good history and it runs every game @ 1920 x 1200 in max settings without any issues what so ever in DX9, 10 and 11, like OpenGL 2.1 3.3 & 4.3.

So due to that I never saw any need for upgrading yet, the CPU's I use are plenty of real cores to my needs, 12 Cores 12 FPU's @ 2.6Ghz in total, so far no app ran too slow on this system, even being it's 4 years and 6 months old, it's lifespan for being a Dual CPU system and native SLI Support kinda did it.

It's PCI_E slots are PCI-E 1.1 x16 but with SLI they run with the full 32 Lanes, which is brilliant. So far I have not seen much difference between PCI-E 1.1, 2.0 & 3.0 x16 even with SLI setups, it seems that PCI-E 1.1 x16 seems to be plenty even when using PCI-E 3.0 x16 cards rofl.

With CUDA Apps the PCI-E bandwidth plays hardly a role it's mainly the GPPU performance that counts and two of these GK104-400-A2's is O-Plenty for I am seeking from such cards.

So yeah it's mobo may be old, but age doesn't mean much with 2CPU builds, these systems are famous for their very long lifespans over the conventional 1CPU setups.

As for a next system that would probably be a Dual E5 2660 or so with the ASUS Z9PE D8 WS, but so far that isn't needed as of yet
