Looks stable now at 185-200 depending on exchange. Probably had to pay taxes on it! ;)

Still a huge drop from where it was about a year ago. Having constant FBI seizures of BTC currency + Mt. Gox folding probably doesn't help.

Since the FBI actually sells BTC after the case if they win, the FBI as well as the Feds are acknowledging that BTC is a currency. Sort of ironic isn't it? The way I see it is this, someone is flooding the market either by design or fear, this drives the prices down. I'm waiting to see if anyone starts buying it up at these low prices and drives the prices up. I'm pretty sure someone is speculating heavily with BTC. I just don't enough about it though. **Removes tinfoil hat**

Market was reacting to BITSTAMP's hot wallet being compromised for 19000btc, estimated to worth US5m. But this is a manageable amount of loss as BITSTAMP is estimated to make a profit of over US10m a year.

Yea that Bitstamp Loss sucked, all I can do now is just hold onto the BTC I make until price recovers, its at $210 right now and slowly climbing back up and yea Foxmino I feel your pain too, I got a couple R9 270's sitting on my shelf I don't use anymore and can't sell them either. I suppose I could just make a seperate gaming rig out of them. I would have 1 AMD base GPU system and 1 Nvidia based GPU system, though I really prefer to game on Nvidia.....

The problem is that the market really doesn't know how to evaluate digital currency.

I think the price reflects the opposite. It's an extremely vulnerable currency that has its exchanges repeatedly hacked or taken down for fraud/solvency issues. It has no system of checks and balances against wild price swings. Since a bitcoin can't gain interest just laying around and the crazy price inflation days seem to be over, holding onto them hoping prices increase instead of crash is just a gamble. There isn't exactly a point to holding them if the price isn't going to go up so people are going to buy out. The only question is will BTC stabilize long enough to build a steady market history (and therefore consumer confidence in the BTC) or not. Otherwise BTC prices are just going to keep going crazy, and mostly down for the near future.

I never got into the bitcoin thing, as it was dying when I started building, and amd was letting the crowds run wild to with gpu pricing, but did anyone see actually think the prices would stay so high when the gpu prices crashed because became wise to the silliness? The moment they shut down companies charging so much, was the moment it was doomed to drop.

And it's back down to $230 again well at least the wall street journal just did an article talking about how digital currency is the wave of the future.. that'll get some more interest. In the meantime (or forever) just supplement your power with with rentals at http://j.mp/RentMiningRigs click my link and spread the wealth! I've switched to AntPool SOLO, their p2p is unstable and far less profitable, but their SOLO pool payout is normally nearly double that of other pools lately and then the same as other pools on a bad block finding day, so that means the cost of renting the cheaper rigs (just sort by mh/day) is almost 50% profit for each rental!!! Use my link and start generating some mula!! I don't think I'll be buying another asic if this renting profit model keeps up

That wouldn't be profitable to me, I would break even, what my S3 does in one day is the same cost a day to rent (0.005 - 0.006 BTC)

the point is not to rent your equip but to rent others at a good cost. Basically what you could rent your own equip for would be what you could make on a normal pool by itself with no assistance. But if you rent that same equipment to pool with the rest of your equipment or just in general with other rentals you will make money. I started with $100 of rentals and after 1 week have $100 in a "savings" wallet and am still working with a $100 for renting. And I've been testing around on multiple pools. So my real profit was just in a few days. Seriously though. At 0.000000012/Mh/Day 1 TH/s = 0.012 and if you can make up to .03 /day! profit profit profit!! even at the worst side of the argument you only make the minimum of .015 /day per TH its still a profit!! money money!!! clicke de link -> http://j.mp/RentMiningRigs S3's use almost twice as much power as the s5's and other server units available. So there are some really good rentals out there. And on http://j.mp/RentMiningRigs which is Mining Rig Rentals you get to point the rental to whatever pools you want. It's not cloud mining where you just get some bs payout. You get actual measured hashrates from actual miners pointed to whatever pool you decide. downtime from miner = refunds, lower hashrates = refunds. The only loss is if you choose your pools poorly. I'm just getting into it but have only made money.

Now that's how you make money on Mining Rig Rentals!! Buy a miner at 18 TH/s and it provides 80 made nearly half a bitcoin profit today! .22 btc to rent for 24 hours / brought in nearly .8 btc! The rental was .22 btc for the day.. about $50 US. There's a few of these kind of rentals floating around. With MiningRigRentals the owners putting up their rigs for rent can point as many miners as they have to one "rig" which can lead to some funky hashrates. 18TH/s is probably the normal combined hashrate, and based on the difficulty settings the pools were spitting back to me it's a whole lot of 100 TH/s miners.. A WHOLE LOT! And I was getting oc speeds on every miner attached to this rig. All it takes is the right server, luckily Bitcoin Affiliate Network (PPS Pool) has a testing server for large miners, it says fixed 8096 difficulty but it only spits out 139 difficulty. The hashrate goes between an astonishing 40-80 TH/s in this case (on basically every other server I was getting 24 TH/s max due to the variable difficulty giving out too high of a result).
