- Hi,

does the Z87-Classified - out of the box -, require a bios-update for the "Core i7-4790K", or is the update allready on the board installed? If not, is it possible (I don't think so...) to perform the update with the cpu "unknown" for the Z87-Classified?

Thanks and regards,
- C.

Well if the classified is like the ftw then the stock bios will boot with it.  What I will tell you is don't make the mistake that I made and flash both sides with the latest version.  I'd keep the lowest bios version on the system and flash the newest one with the most current bios.

The BIOS on the Classy motherboard is unlikely to be the most current. You can boot the 4790K processor with the older version BIOS to upgrade to current version.

Fair warning, you will have to do a "Hard Reset" after upgrading.

    Good luck!

    - Thank you guys!

@delarisch: "Fair warning, you will have to do a "Hard Reset" after upgrading." Are you talking about the micro-lithium-cell on the board?

My meaning of "Hard Reset" is you will have to hold the power switch in until the system shuts down.

The system "hangs" after the BIOS update finishes. Normally, your system would reboot after the update loading the new BIOS.

Make sure not to interrupt the power during the upgrade.

The system will behave normally after booting with 1.08 BIOS loaded.

    Cheers!
