Whenever ever I start up my computer, the bios screen shows black borders all around it. It goes away when windows starts however. How do I  'enlarge'  the Bios screen to fill the entire space?

I have an HP h8 1360t
GTX 660 SC (latest drivers)
Windows 8 Pro

    Welcome to the EVGA forums

This is due to a issue with your monitor and "scaling"
You will have to read your monitors manual or research it online, to see if your monitor supports "scaling" and/or what monitor settings are needed.

This has -nothing- to do with your Nvidia drivers or settings, as in the BIOS the Nvidia driver has not even loaded.

    Thanks. :)

I tried finding the settings for scaling but no luck. I'm going to need to look for the manual online I guess.

Before I installed the 660 however,I just had intel hd4000 integrated graphics and the bios screen looked normal on my hp 2311xi monitor. Why did it change size after installing the graphics card?

Did you disable your onboard graphics after installing the video card?

Yeah it's disabled. I checked the bios, it did it automatically.

So I found the scaling option in the menu but it's greyed out (due to the monitor already receiving default resolution of 1920 by 1080). hmmm

Looks like you have a lot of company with this problem and no solution. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/520836/gtx-680-not-filling-full-screen-in-uefi-bios/

this first appeared for me with the 400 series cards..its been there since then, no matter the card type from invidia. its does not affect performance. its just the card doing the scaling.

This is all about your monitor
The Videocard does NOT scale the display in the BIOS, as it does NOT have a driver loaded until Windows boots..
-->Your Monitor does the scaling, if it is supported.
Is is supposed to detect the signal and then scale it to fill the display.
*this "could" be an issue with the type of cable and any adapters you might be using.
I use only a DVI-D (dual link) and have never seen this issue across 3 monitors

I have had, 200, 400, 500 and 600 series Nvidia cards in my current build.
The BIOS is the normal 800x600 and has auto scaled perfectly.
I simply open my monitors OSD and set it to "scale" and I am done...

Your monitor came with a DVI cable in the box, try using it
Also you should go to HP and get the driver for your monitor
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=&sw_lang=&product=5304085#N171
*Input your OS version and just get the DRIVER (do NOT get the utility)

    Here is your MANUAL
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03351672.pdf

Your monitor supports scaling with the correct input mode and custom scaling option properly enabled

PROBLEM FIXED  (screenshot below is from your monitors manual)

*FILL TO SCREEN does what it it says.. fills the screen.
The other will have black bars on its sides as 800x600 is 4:3 ratio-->but it will be 1080 pixels high

Thanks maniacvvvv, got the the latest drivers for the monitor, tried the custom scaling option but it's greyed out and won't allow me to select it. That's what I need tho, i think I read somewhere that b/c the monitor is already receiving the default 1080p res, it won't allow you to choose custom scaling. I don't really understand why.

(and i'm actually using the dvi cable that came with the monitor)

Hint:  boot into the BIOS (not into Windows), THEN use the monitors OSD, the option "should" not be greyed out as the BIOS is 800x600 when Windows loads it will go normal 1080p and the option will gray out as there is nothing to scale...

Might just do the trick for you

Ah okay, sounds logical! Thanks! I will try that when I get home.

Edit: No luck. The option is still greyed out.

I have the same issue too.
It's not due to my monitors as when i had  my 6950 it never happend but as soon as i switched to the 670's i got the black border around the bios screen. I have checked wether changing monitor setting from full to fit while in the bios but no go. still exactly the same.
Any other suggestions would be greatly apreciated.
    Thanks

Will there ever be a resolution to this ? This is NOT a monitor problem but a graphics card bios issue. Intel Onboard graphics displays DVI BIOS in full screen and EVGA Nvidia card displays with black frame. Seems to be no way to fix other than change the graphics card. EVGA claims there is no problem, yet their new cards display the bios and boot in full screen.Planned Obsolescence !!!

As far as I know, this can hypothetically be fixed by enabling or disabling "force adapter scaling" and/or "non-native panel control" in the video card BIOS's boot settings.  I haven't had this "problem" with my 500 series card so I haven't had to mess around with it.  "Force adapter scaling" and "non-native panel control" are disabled in my video card's BIOS boot settings.
