Just watched the Weather Channel saying 24-36 inches in NYC.. looks like I will have a fun trip home from work tomorrow! Snow expected to start around 1pm Monday (est) and continue for ~30 hours straight! Feel free to update this thread as things progress...

Snow in NYC started much earlier than predicted, but it's work as usual for me. Will finish at 4pm today so hopefully will still be able to get home ok. Wind is starting to pick up here, hitting about 20mph currently, and snow blowing horizontally.

Not that bad so far (Brooklyn, NYC). Had to walk for about 15-20 blocks in it earlier, not much of a problem other than big snowflakes in the eye every now and then.

Hope things are not as bad as predicted, as many times they are not. Just glad the Midwest has not gotten what it dud this time last year. In Wisconsin right now, but when I left Indiana it was not bad. Last year this time we had a temp of -17. Good luck, stay warm, have fuel for your generator, be safe and stay off the roads, and most of all, cuddle up with your wife to stay warm.

Yup, still only a few inches on the ground so far here in Brooklyn as well. Switched on The Weather Channel and they're making it out to be really major, showing some reporter supposedly walking into a waist-deep snow drift, but if you looked closely you could see he was actually kind of kneeling / sitting trying to make it look deeper than it was. They're getting all the reporters to stand far away from the camera to make it look more of a blizzard than just normal snow coming down. This is of course the same mentality that a few years ago had some reporter sitting in a kayak saying how heavily flooded it was, then a guy walks past (it was a live shoot) and it was barely ankle deep.. lol. Funny thing is, while these reporters for TWC are going on about 26" or more in NYC, scrolling down the bottom of the screen the forecast is saying 3-5" overnight, and 1-3" tomorrow - which is far more believable based on what we've experienced so far. Cars outside don't even have their roofs covered in snow yet. Freaking snow plows are making a hell of a racket though. Bit of a storm in a teacup it seems, at least for NYC.

In times like this I am always grateful when these guys are wrong. Could never imagine a job where you are wrong 90% of the time and you're a star or "most accurate" forecaster. Have not seen the reports yet, but I hope this is the case for everyone.
